Superman’s Rachel Brosnahan Addresses Potentially Playing Lois Lane For 10 To 15 Years

Superman‘s Lois Lane actress addressed whether she could stay in the new DC Universe for a decade or more if the movie is a hit. While James Gunn has recently said that he would be happy if Superman just made its budget back, the movie’s performance is key to knowing how the DCU’s future projects will shape up.

If Superman is a hit, there is no doubt that Gunn will want to revisit these characters sooner rather than later. When Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran announced the first projects that were part of their 10-year DCU plan, Superman was chosen as the franchise’s first film. This means Superman‘s cast of characters is important to the franchise’s future.

During a Superman movie set visit attended by ScreenRant and other members of the press, Superman‘s Lois Lane, Rachel Brosnahan, revealed that she would be happy to stay in the DCU for the next 10-15 years. According to the actress, she would be lucky to always have Lois to go back to. Check out the full quote below:

Rachel Brosnahan: I’d be so lucky. I mean, we’re early, so talk to me in a couple of years. But this industry is so feast or famine. I would feel so lucky to have something, and certainly something as iconic as this, to return to. Well, hopefully I’d have the opportunity to go out and do other things, and live in different universes and come back to this. After having worked on a show, you know, I never thought I’d want to be a part of something for 5 or 6 years. That felt like a lifetime to me at 26, when we started working on that. And time flies, and you build these families that you sometimes spend more time with than you do with your own. How lucky to get to go to summer camp every year, you know?

What Rachel Brosnahan’s DC Movie Future Comments Mean

The Star Plans On Being In The DCU For The Long Haul

Based on Rachel Brosnahan’s comments, it seems like the DCU’s Superman corner could remain active for a long time. Lois Lane is an integral part of Superman’s stories. That will not be different in the DCU, as she will have a big role to play in James Gunn’s Superman. As seen in the trailers, Lois does not go easy on Clark.

That dynamic will continue to evolve, as the two have not been dating for a long time. With Gunn having a 10-year plan for the DCU, Superman and Lois Lane’s relationship will have plenty of time to get to the point where they have kids and more, especially with Brosnahan happy to keep playing Lois for the next decade.

The actress’ positive stance on a long-term DC commitment is partly due to her biggest project. In The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Brosnahan played the lead role for five seasons, with the Lois Lane star claiming that “you build these families.” Based on her positive atтιтude toward Superman, it seems like her new DCU family could keep her coming back.

Our Take On Rachel Brosnahan’s DC Movie Future Comments

The Cast Of James Gunn’s Superman Movie

There is so much DC can do with Lois and Clark if both Brosnahan and Corenswet stay in the franchise for 10-15 years. We could see the duo get married and have Jonathan Kent, with Clark teaching him how to use his powers. The CW’s Superman & Lois is a great template for where the DCU could go with them.

Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent and Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane had two sons in Superman & Lois.

In an age where moviegoers and Hollywood talent have started to get more cynical about superhero movies, it is refreshing to have Brosnahan so excited about her DC future. I hope the new Superman movie is a success so we can keep seeing her and Corenswet together for years to come. Based on Superman‘s trailers, everything is looking good.

Superman flies into theaters on July 11.
