Pierce Brosnan’s Most Exciting 2025 Release Is Still To Come, Even After MobLand & A Western With Samuel L. Jackson

Pierce Brosnan has been a major franchise actor in the past. Most notably, he is among the six actors who have so far gotten the opportunity to play the famed character James Bond. Brosnan began his Bond tenure with the 1995 film GoldenEye, and continued it until his 2002 film Die Another Day.

Brosnan has also been in a wide variety of other films. He plays Sam, one of the three potential fathers in Mamma Mia!, a role which he reprised in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Roles like these have shown off his softer, less action-film-oriented side.

His long career has made Brosnan a beloved actor in the industry today. He is fairly flexible, able to span multiple genres, modes, and budgets. Now 72 years old, the actor is still incredibly active, and has another key тιтle still to come this year.

Pierce Brosnan Is Having A Strong 2025

He Has Had Several Successes

For a septuagenarian, Brosnan is already having an incredibly packed and solid year in 2025. He played a key role in Steven Soderbergh’s movie Black Bag, which got great reviews among both critics and fans.

He then transitioned to the Paramount+ TV show MobLand. Starring opposite Helen Mirren, this series saw Brosnan play the patriarch of a crime family. It gave the actor a chance to show off his dramatic chops and find success, as MobLand was recently renewed for season 2.

Brosnan was also recently in The Unholy Trinity with fellow acting legend Samuel L. Jackson. The movie got generally unfavorable reviews, getting a 33% Tomatometer, but was better liked by audiences. Even Brosnan’s 2025 voice acting role, in The King of Kings, turned out to be a surprise box office hit.

This combination of тιтles has given the actor a good run so far in 2025. But if this was not a testament enough to the lasting strength of Brosnan’s career, his most exciting 2025 тιтle is arguably yet to come.

The Thursday Murder Club Could Be Really Great For Pierce Brosnan

It Looks Like A Great Murder Mystery Film

Pierce Brosnan is looking in The Thursday Murder Club

Later this year, Brosnan stars in The Thursday Murder Club. An adaptation of the Richard Osman novel of the same name, the film focuses on a group of friends in a retirement community whose cold-case solving club has to take on a real-life mystery after someone is murdered. The film is set for release on Netflix on August 28.

The Thursday Murder Club trailer makes this film out to be a charming revival of the murder mystery genre. It features a unique set of detectives, and is replete with a sense of joy and levity that gives it a great tone.

The Thursday Murder Club also has a great cast. This includes Mirren, with whom Brosnan will reunite, along with Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie. These seasoned actors will help ᴀssure the Netflix movie’s greatness, elevating it to become the Black Bag actor’s best of 2025.

The Thursday Murder Club Could Give Pierce Brosnan A New Franchise

It Is A Multi-Part Series

One of the strongest elements of The Thursday Murder Club is not how it will transform Brosnan’s 2025, but its potential to jump-start a franchise. The 2020 novel was the first in the author’s murder mystery franchise. Since then, Osman has released one тιтle per year, with four released books in total.

A fifth Thursday Murder Club book, тιтled The Impossible Fortune, is set for release in September of this year.

These publications give Netflix the runway to continue to adapt The Thursday Murder Club books. The streamer has seemed particularly invested in franchises in recent years. This is especially evident in their funding of two Greta Gerwig-directed Narnia movies, which could also start a new book-to-movie franchise.

This is particularly good news for Brosnan. The Thursday Murder Club could end up giving him a new movie franchise. While he has been in plenty of strong one-off movies, it has been a while since Brosnan has been a lead character in a movie series. Now just might be his chance, after an already-impressive year.
