This Blockbuster Has Spent Over Two Years In Paramount+’s Top 10 Movies

One of the best and most popular movies of the 2020s is Top Gun: Maverick and that is as clear as ever considering how long it has spent trending on Paramount+. It was obvious once it was released that Top Gun: Maverick was a hit, grossing a whopping $1.4 billion, with some even saying it helped save movie theaters. However, the true success of Tom Cruise’s already iconic action film is the staying power it has had in the three years since it was first released.

Although so many people initially saw it in theaters, it has remained a hit on streaming services to this day. In fact, Top Gun: Maverick hasn’t really ever stopped trending as it has sat in the top 10 most-watched movies on Paramount+ for over 830 days. That kind of staying power is basically unheard of, especially for a movie that did so well at the box office and isn’t a streaming exclusive.

What This Means For Top Gun: Maverick

This continued streaming success of Top Gun: Maverick is hard to truly define because it is so rare. It was a mᴀssive hit both on the big screen and on screens at home, which is a special feat all on its own. Trending for two years shows the incredible replay value of the film, as plenty of great movies aren’t something you’d watch multiple times, but that’s not the case here. The movie even recently saw a bigger bump after the tragic pᴀssing of Val Kilmer, with fans honoring the actor by rewatching his pivotal scene in the film.

The fact that Top Gun: Maverick is still such a hit over two years after it arrived on streaming also showcases how the franchise is still in demand. Fans are clamoring for Top Gun 3, and whenever that happens, it’s likely to be an even bigger hit. Until that day eventually comes, fans are content to watch the pulse-pounding action of this blockbuster.

It’s The Defining Movie Of Its Era

While most people know and understand that Top Gun: Maverick is a special movie, it’s hard to really grasp just how mᴀssive this feat actually is. Movies come and go, and even the best and most popular will trend on streaming services for a while before falling by the wayside. Remaining a heavily watched film for more than two years means that Top Gun: Maverick kind of cements itself as the movie of the 2020s.

To have this level of sustained success both on the big screen and in the homes of viewers is something special. Throughout the first half of this decade, no movie has been this popular and remained that way for three of the five years of the 2020s, making Top Gun: Maverick the defining film of its era.
