After 6 Years, Star Wars’ Next Movie Has The Chance To Make This Crucial Din Djarin Moment Worth The Wait

The Mandalorian and Grogu has the opportunity to make a big Din Djarin moment unequivocally worth the six-year wait. Of all the upcoming Star Wars movies, The Mandalorian and Grogu is the most immediate. The film is set to release in May 2026 as part of Star Wars’ extensive New Republic timeline, exploring the тιтular characters on the big screen.

While the overall story of The Mandalorian and Grogu remains secret at this point, there have been a few key reveals. One involved an image of Pedro Pascal as helmetless Din Djarin, which many Star Wars fans thought was a thing of the past. The Mandalorian season 3 did not feature Pascal’s face, with Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder donning the armor.

Pascal still voiced Din, but this image confirmed his return in the suit for The Mandalorian and Grogu. Hopefully, this return incorporates a big, new element for the character that has been six years in the works.

Din Djarin’s Big Helmet-Less Moment Should Be An Action Scene

It Is The Last Thing For Pascal To Do As Din

The element that The Mandalorian and Grogu needs to implement for helmetless Din Djarin is action. Across the three seasons of The Mandalorian, Din removed his helmet three times. The first was out of necessity, given that he had injured his head and needed healing. The second and third times were for Grogu’s sake.

The first saw Din remove his helmet so he could have a retinal scan in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 7, “The Believer.” The second was when saying goodbye to Grogu in The Mandalorian season 2’s finale. However, helmetless Din has not been involved in a big action sequence in the six years since 2019.

The Mandalorian and Grogu could provide exactly this. After all, Pascal was confirmed to be on set at Star Wars Celebration 2025, with one of his doubles – the aforementioned Lateef Crowder – posting a since-expired Instagram story telling the star to stretch. This implies Pascal was involved in the movie’s action, potentially marking a first for Din.

This Action Scene Would Be Highly Meaningful For Din Djarin

To Show Another Side Of Him

Concerning why an action sequence is needed for helmetless Din Djarin, it would add more depth to his character. Din is one of the coolest Star Wars characters in a long time, primarily due to his guarded nature. Din’s upbringing as a Mandalorian means he rarely lets his emotions get the better of him and, of course, he does not remove his helmet.

However, every time Din removes his helmet, more of his humanity is shown. From his vulnerability in The Mandalorian season 1 to the sheer emotion in The Mandalorian season 2, every reveal of Din Djarin’s face pulls back a layer of armor. Therefore, Din being in full fight mode without his armor would be overly interesting to see.

Without his helmet, Din could subvert that and showcase his very human desire to survive and fight…

Not only would it be logistically cool, as we would see Din having to change up his tactics to avoid being hit now that he doesn’t have the safety blanket of his impervious armor, but it would make him feel much more human.

The Mandalorians are cool, but they are more akin to Terminators than people when they lay waste to squadrons from behind their cold armor. Without his helmet, Din could subvert that and showcase his very human desire to survive and fight, adding much more meaning to his character.

After Such A Long Wait, We Deserve A Scene Like This

On a more surface level, audiences of The Mandalorian have waited six years to see Din without his armor in elongated scenes. Many thought that Din’s character arc in The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 was building up to him becoming disillusioned with the Children of the Watch, the religious cult of Mandalorians that insists helmets must not be removed.

Six years later, though, this has not yet happened. Whether it will in The Mandalorian and Grogu or not remains to be seen, but there is no denying that audiences would like to see a different side to Din, all of these years later.
