Thor’s new Avengers: Doomsday costume gets its first details revealed. Chris Hemsworth is one of the two original Avengers confirmed for the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. The actor was even the first star announced for the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie when the studio revealed the cast through a surprise live stream with actor chairs being shown over a handful of hours.
Thor holds an impressive MCU record, as he is the only hero with four solo movies, though Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will match him in 2026. Still, Thor 5‘s chances of happening are good, at least if the God of Thunder’s death is not part of the plans for Avengers: Doomsday.
Speaking to The Independent, Chris Hemsworth’s physical trainer, Luke Zocchi, explained how his Thor training is different for Avengers: Doomsday — partly due to Thor’s new MCU costume. Hemsworth is focusing on his arms and shoulders, as his Avengers: Doomsday suit will highlight those parts. He will also not be as toned as in Thor: Love and Thunder. Check out the full quote below:
“I hate to say it, but I think we’re just getting a little bit older. We’re not killing ourselves as much and always thinking more is better. Instead, we’re being a bit more in-tune with our bodies.
We were in a position where we [felt we] had to do it. It might have been the last time he played Thor, so we wanted to look mᴀssive, and we had a year to train for it. Then this time Chris was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t know if I want to do that again’.”
What The New Thor Avengers: Doomsday Update Means
Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Has Always Had An Impressive Physique
While Hemsworth might not be in the same shape he was in Thor: Love and Thunder, the actor is still in peak superhero condition. It makes sense that he would cut back on the training for the role as the years went on. After all, Hemsworth is now 41, not 27 like when he was first cast as Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder also featured a scene with Zeus and other gods where the hero’s clothes were blown away. Hemsworth needed to look visibly toned for it, which explains why his workouts were so intense. As explained by his physical trainer, the actor also thought it could be his swan song in the MCU, so he worked out harder.

With Hemsworth now returning for Avengers: Doomsday and likely still having a few more MCU movies left in the tank after that, his Thor training could be less intense. As for Thor’s new Avengers: Doomsday costume, it seems like the MCU hero will have a sleeveless suit. That would match the detail of how his arms and shoulders would be spotlighted.
Our Take On The New Thor Avengers: Doomsday Update
The MCU Star Has Earned A Lighter Routine
I think it is okay for Chris Hemsworth’s MCU hero not to look as toned as he did in Thor: Love and Thunder. While he should have a key role to play in Avengers: Doomsday, as long as Thor keeps his costume on for the most part, fans will likely not notice any difference. Hemsworth’s physique still looks great.
With Thor’s new MCU costume said to highlight his arms and shoulders, as long as those parts look impressive, no questions about different training practices should be asked. I wish we knew more about what Thor’s Avengers: Doomsday suit will look like. That said, I’m excited to find out when the MCU movie’s first trailer is released.
When that might happen is still up in the air. Avengers: Doomsday is now filming, with the MCU movie recently having been delayed to December 18, 2026. As such, the first look at Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in Avengers: Doomsday might take some time to arrive.
