Liam Neeson’s Sequel To Forgotten 2021 Action Movie Gets A Thrilling First Trailer

Liam Neeson is a proven action movie star who is well accustomed to making franchises and sequels, and one connected to a forgotten release is now heating up. Although the Irish actor started off with more dramatic roles, even earning an Oscar nomination for working with Steven Spielberg, the later stages of his career have seen him transform into an action lead. This era of Neeson’s career really took off with Taken‘s release in 2008, as it spawned an entire trilogy. He’s become a fixture of non-IP, lower-budget action films ever since.

While he still works in dramatic work every now and then, Liam Neeson’s action movies with a bit of vengeance are his bread and ʙuттer at this stage. He’s great at using his particular set of skills to sell movies that others might not be able to. Over the last decade, he’s done various action movies that were well received by audiences. He’s even starting to parody his action hero persona with The Naked Gun reboot coming later this year. That doesn’t mean he’s completely leaving traditional action roles and launching new franchises behind.

Liam Neeson’s Ice Road: Vengeance’s First Trailer Revealed

Vertical has officially released the first trailer for Liam Neeson’s new action movie sequel, Ice Road: Vengeance. The movie hits theaters on June 27 before releasing on demand on July 1. Ice Road: Vengeance is a sequel to Liam Neeson’s 2021 action thriller, The Ice Road, which debuted exclusively on Netflix and spent two weeks in its top 10 charts. The new trailer showcases the first look at Neeson’s return as big rig ice road driver Mike McCann as his trip to Nepal to scatter his brother’s ashes is interrupted by a group of mercenaries.

What Ice Road: Vengeance’s Trailer Reveals About Liam Neeson’s Sequel

The Ice Road: Vengeance trailer release comes days ahead of the film’s debut, but that doesn’t make it any less thrilling. The movie continues the storyline from the first movie as Mike is still grieving the death of his brother, Gurty, from The Ice Road‘s ending. He travels to Nepal to spread his ashes on Mount Everest, which leads him to meet his guide, played by Fan Bingbing. Their routine trip goes haywire when the bus they are on has an attempted hijacking and kidnapping, making Mike and his new friends targets.

There is a lot of truck-driving action in Ice Road: Vengeance‘s trailer, keeping up with what the first movie offered audiences. But, the setting switch is notable. The sequel has left behind the icy terrain that was a fixture of the first film and traded it in for dirt roads in Nepal. The end of the trailer teases that there will still be some ice road driving for Mike McCann, but it’s not nearly as much as the original. The switch-up does not take away from the action looking quite thrilling, whether it’s from Neeson’s driving, hand-to-hand combat, or shootouts.

Our Take On Ice Road: Vengeance’s Trailer

Liam Neeson bloody driving a bus in Ice Road Vengeance

After watching the original The Ice Road a few years ago, I never really expected that there would even be a sequel, much less one that looks like a more exhilarating watch. Ice Road: Vengeance‘s trailer does a solid job of selling the Liam Neeson sequel and providing some glimpses as to why it could be a good time. It has all the hallmarks of the types of action movies the actor has been making lately. Hopefully, this one will just be a bit better than some others.
