Mark Hamill’s New Stephen King Movie Role Is Nothing Like The Next One Coming In 3 Months

Mark Hamill has roles in two different Stephen King movies that are releasing in 2025, and his role in The Life of Chuck is nothing like his role in the second Stephen King movie of the year. The Life of Chuck is one of the most critically acclaimed movies of 2025, and while the film is filled with some incredible performances, Mark Hamill is one of the most praised parts of the movie. Luckily, fans of Mark Hamill can get excited for another Stephen King movie that the actor will appear in, although it won’t be nearly as heartwarming as The Life of Chuck.

Unlike many of Stephen King’s other stories, The Life of Chuck is not a horror tale. Instead, it is a heartwarming and life-affirming tale about an accountant named Chuck, with the film following his life from his school days up until his death and the end of the world. Throughout his life, Chuck meets all kinds of different people, and even more people become aware of Chuck as he gets closer to his death. The Life of Chuck‘s star-studded cast is immensely impressive, and Mark Hamill steals the spotlight in several scenes.

Mark Hamill Has A Heartbreaking Role In The Life Of Chuck

He Plays Chuck’s Father, Albie Krantz

In The Life of Chuck, Mark Hamill plays Albie Krantz, the grandfather of Chuck. Chuck’s parents die when he is very young, with Albie and his wife Sarah taking him in. Sarah is an optimist, with her teaching Chuck how to dance as well as the other wonders of life. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Albie. The death of Albie’s son sent Albie into a spiraling depression, with him closing many people out as he turned to alcohol. The trauma from his son’s death as well as the mysterious circumstances surrounding his house’s cupola turn Albie into a tragic figure.

As Chuck grows older, his pᴀssion for dance causes him to conflict with Albie. Albie explains that dreams of becoming a dancer aren’t realistic, and that Chuck should turn to accounting. Although Albie isn’t setting out to crush Chuck’s dreams, with him having a sincere belief in the magic of math, he unwittingly sets Chuck on a path of repressing his dancing talents. Albie is a sad character, with him meant to represent the type of person that audiences shouldn’t want to be by the ending of The Life of Chuck.

Mark Hamill Will Next Play A Terrifying Villain In Stephen King’s The Long Walk

He Plays The Main Antagonist, The Major

Mark Hamill’s next film role will be in 2025’s The Long Walk, which is also an adaptation of a Stephen King story. The Long Walk is set in a dystopian version of the United States, with the film following a group of young men who are forced to participate in a walking compeтιтion where they will die if they stop.

Mark Hamill will play the Major in The Long Walk, the main antagonist of the novel. The Major is the leader of the secret police force that puts on the annual walking compeтιтion, meaning that he is the target of the participants’ ire. The trailers for The Long Walk show how terrifying of an antagonist Mark Hamill’s the Major is, and many are excited to see his full role when the film releases on September 12, 2025.

Mark Hamill’s Dual Stephen King Movie Roles Show His True Talent

He Plays Two Incredibly Different Types Of Characters

Putting Mark Hamill in two wildly different Stephen King roles is a great idea, as it perfectly illustrates his true talent as an actor. Hamill’s ᴀssociation with the Star Wars franchise has caused many audience members to underestimate his acting prowess. Those that do often only cite his voice acting roles, but he has appeared in tons of fantastic live action movies throughout the years. Putting him in two Stephen King adaptations can show his range to a wider audience, and The Life of Chuck has already gotten this Mark Hamill double feature off to a great start.
