Predator: Killer Of Killers Sets Up The Perfect Sequel To The Most Underrated Predator Movie

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Predator: Killer of Killers!

When Predator: Killers of Killers ends, its story is not over, with the animated film secretly setting up the perfect sequel to the most underrated Predator movie. Although Prey has reignited interest in the Predator franchise, the series has gone through some struggles in its past, with it having a variety of disappointing sequels and spinoffs. However, the release of Predator: Killer of Killers and the upcoming Predator: Badlands proves that the franchise is better off than ever, meaning that it is the perfect time to give this overlooked Predator film a spiritual successor.

Predator: Killer of Killers is an anthology film that tells the story of three different Predators who travel to Earth in three different time periods, with them having to fight against Vikings, shinobi, and World War II pilots. Although the first three segments of the anthology film are independent, they all tie together during the fourth segment. At the end of Predator: Killer of Killers, the protagonists of each of the previous segments find themselves inside a gladiatorial arena on the Yautja planet. They must discover a way to escape, although this storyline isn’t resolved before credits roll.

Predator: Killer Of Killers’ Ending Sets Up A Spiritual Successor To 2010’s Predators

Thanks To Its Cliffhanger Conclusion

Predator: Killer of Killers ends as Ursa gives herself up to the Predators so that Kenji and John can fly away, with the Predator Warlord sending a fleet of Yautja ships after the stolen spacecraft. Although it isn’t revealed if Kenji and John were caught, it is clear that the Predators are chasing them down so that they don’t escape the planet. Thus, if a sequel does happen, it would most likely focus on the duo as they try to locate Ursa, as well as some of the other imprisoned Predator killers, and continue their escape plan.

Interestingly, this ending set up is incredibly similar to the plot of Predators. The 2010 film follows a group of human killers who awake on an alien planet. There, they are forced to get along with the other humans who have arrived, with them all working together to escape the Predator planet. While the other Predator movies have been about the тιтular aliens coming to Earth, Predators flips the story by putting humans on the Predator planet. Thus, their escape story sounds increidbly similar to the one that Predator: Killer of Killers‘ ending sets up.

Predators Is The Most Unique Predator Film Yet (& The Franchise Knows It)

Based On Killer Of Killers & Badlands

Predators is a great film, and that is mostly thanks to how unique it is. The four movies that were released before it, those being Predator, Predator 2, Alien vs. Predator, and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem are all about Predators coming to Earth and hunting humans. Predators, however, isn’t about that at all. Instead, it finally shows off a Yautja planet and follows humans as they interact with unfamiliar plants, animals, and weaponry, making the Predator universe much bigger than before.

It seems as if the modern Predator movies recognize how interesting Predators was, as they are leaning into what made that film great. Predator: Killer of Killers has its aforementioned Predators parallels, while the upcoming Predator: Badlands is entirely set on an alien planet, similar to the 2010 sequel. Thus, the franchise is clearly leaning into Predators‘ pattern of throwing humans into unfamiliar settings and situations.

Predator: Killer Of Killers’ Follow-Up Can Be An Actual Predators 2

Thanks To Naru’s Killer Of Killers Cameo

Interestingly, Predators could actually get a proper sequel rather than a spiritual successor. After Ursa is captured by the Yautja, she is taken into an archive that holds every individual who has killed a Predator. Prey protagonist Naru can be seen there, proving that the Yautja have kidnapped the human characters who have killed Predators.

Because of this, it is incredibly likely that Adrien Brody’s Royce and the other survivors of Predators are in this archive of champions as well. If Kenji and John want to locate Ursa before leaving the planet, they could easily run into the Predators cast, setting up a continuation of their story in a Predator: Killer of Killers sequel.
