Recently, it had been rumored that Reeves would finally turn in a full draft of the script by Memorial Day — he has delivered chunks of the upcoming DC movie to DC Studios co-CEOs Gunn and Peter Safran — but Gunn disproved that, saying, “Haven’t heard that one but it’s also not true. No one ever expected it by then.”

I find it disappointing that The Batman 2 script did not arrive by Memorial Day, as had been reported. It seems like the wait for this movie to be ready to enter production never ends. 2025 could have seen live-action Batman and Superman movies being released in the same year for the first time, but we had to see The Batman 2 be delayed to 2027 with no concrete updates about its story and cast. Based on Gunn’s latest script update, I find it likely that The Batman 2 will only be ready to start filming in 2026.
