Sinners Box Office Pᴀsses 1 Last Big Milestone As It Becomes Available To Watch At Home

Sinners has officially hit another major box office milestone, even as it becomes available on VOD. A hit among both critics and audiences, it has been exceeding theatrical expectations since its release on April 18. The genre-blended vampire period piece is the fifth film from Black Panther auteur Ryan Coogler and features Michael B. Jordan, who is in every one of his films, in the lead role once again. Sinners‘ other cast members include Miles Caton, Saul Williams, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O’Connell, Li Jun Li, Delory Lindo, and Hailee Steinfeld.

According to Box Office Mojo, Sinners has likely reached a significant box office milestone, now surpᴀssing $350 million worldwide. At the time of writing, the movie’s total came to $350.1 million, just crossing that critical threshold. This total comes from $267.1 million domestically and an additional $83 million from overseas markets.

What This Means For Sinners

The Movie Has Hit Several Milestones

This particular Sinners milestone comes just as the movie becomes available digitally today, June 3. This digital release date will be followed by a release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD next month on July 8. This at-home availability means that the $350 million milestone will likely be the last major box office news that Sinners has for its theatrical release. The digital availability will make people less inclined to watch it in theaters, and pretty soon, it will start to be pulled from theaters.

That said, the $350 million mark is far from the only milestone that Sinners hit during its run. The most recent box office totals position it as the no. 7 highest-grossing horror film of all time, just pᴀssing Hannibal for a final good spot on the ranking. It is also possible for it to still beat Alien: Romulus on this all-time list, which made $350.7 million. It also had one of the top 10 best opening weekends for an R-rated horror movie ever, which is especially impressive given its original story.

Our Take On Sinners’ Box Office Run

Sinners Justified Its Budget

This final box office milestone is proof that the Sinners gamble paid off for Warner Bros. Before the movie was released, many pundits and experts felt that Warner Bros. executives Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca were taking too big of a risk with the movie, which was budgeted at $90 million. However, the film’s $350 million run ensured that the team at Warner Bros. made back their money and then some. As Sinners hits digital and later streaming, it can still make some additional money, adding profit to its already successful theatrical run.
