I Can’t Believe The 1 MCU Hero That Seems Most Perfect To Fight Against Doctor Doom Is Also The One Character I Think It Least Likely To

The return of one specific MCU character would make the upcoming fight in Avengers: Doomsday much easier, but it’s largely unlikely that she’ll actually appear. Though the film was recently pushed back from its original May 2026 release date to December 18, 2026, production seems to be going smoothly so far. With a cast of over 20 characters confirmed so far, more characters are set to be announced soon in order to make this the biggest ᴀssembled Avengers team yet.

Although the fight against Doctor Doom will require the MCU to ᴀssemble its strongest heroes, the past Avengers films have had a habit of sidelining the most powerful characters in the initial battle in order to drag the story along. Scarlet Witch didn’t appear until the end of the battle in Avengers: Infinity War and Captain Marvel was off-world for the majority of Endgame. One of the MCU’s strongest characters is likely going to get the same treatment, though under some very different circumstances.

Avengers: Doomsday Is Set To Pit A Lot Of Powerful MCU Heroes Against Doctor Doom

Heroes From Various Teams Have Already Been Confirmed

The original enemy of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga was Kang the Conqueror, but after the studio had to pivot, they landed on using Doctor Doom instead. It’s going to be a promising portrayal with Marvel veteran Robert Downey Jr. behind the mask, and the actor has promised a complex portrayal of the character. To go up against a villain of his caliber, the MCU has ᴀssembled some of the most powerful MCU heroes to prepare for battle, including some very surprising inclusions.

So far, members of the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men have all been confirmed to fight alongside the Avengers in Doomsday. As for the Avengers themselves, it seems like they’re going to be helmed by veterans like Thor, Captain America, and Ant-Man, along with some newcomers like Shang-Chi and Shuri’s Black Panther. The confirmed team already includes a wide variety of heroes with a range of powers and strengths, and it’s only just the beginning, as the studio has said that more cast confirmations are set to come.

One Of The MCU Heroes Who Could Have Stood The Best Chance Against Doctor Doom Also Seems The Least Likely To Appear In The Fight Against Him

G’iah Is An Interesting But Overpowered Character

There is one MCU character who would be a huge help in the fight against Doctor Doom, but she’s also one of the characters least likely to appear. Secret Invasion premiered on Disney+ in 2023, but because of its poor writing, pacing, and visual effects, the series was negatively received. One of the fans’ biggest critiques came with the introduction of a whole new character. Emilia Clarke played G’iah, a Skrull refugee and the daughter of Talos. At the end of the show, G’iah takes the Harvest serum and becomes a Super-Skrull.

The biggest complaint about G’iah is that she is extremely overpowered. The Harvest contains the DNA of multiple MCU heroes and villains, allowing G’iah to use any of them, from Captain Marvel to Thanos. The MCU is already trying to avoid any reference to Secret Invasion because of how negative the general reaction was, and G’iah’s power imbalance is probably something they’re trying to quietly figure out. Her powers as a Super-Skrull would be the Avengers’ best chance versus Doctor Doom, but having her fight with a bunch of other heroes’ powers would only make the criticism against her worse.

Avengers: Secret Wars Could Offer A Chance For G’iah To Fight Doctor Doom, But I Think Another Scenario Is More Likely

The MCU Has A Chance To Retcon Her Powers

Giah Superpowers Secret Invasion

Although it seems like the studio is trying to distance themselves from any loose Secret Invasion plot points for now, it doesn’t mean that G’iah won’t ever make a return. In a surprising turn of events for the character, Clarke could be one of the actors confirmed in the second batch of Doomsday cast announcements. It still feels highly unlikely, so G’iah’s MCU return may bank on the storyline that Doomsday and Secret Wars set up instead.

One of the most popular Secret Wars theories is that part of the universe is going to be rewritten or outright destroyed, launching a potential soft reboot of the MCU. With that in mind, G’iah being part of the erased population would give the studio a chance to logically introduce a retconned version of the character. Though there’s seemingly a slim chance of that happening, I hope the MCU does find a way to retcon G’iah’s powers and have her return, even if Avengers: Doomsday isn’t the right time just yet.
