Wicked Fans Have New Evidence For Dorothy Actor Idenтιтy In Wicked: For Good

There is now even more fuel to the fire surrounding who might be playing Dorothy in Wicked: For Good. The movie is the sequel to last year’s wildly successful film version of the Broadway musical Wicked. The film makes a number of changes from the stage production, including adding two original songs that are not in the Broadway show. The Wicked: For Good trailer also features Dorothy. While the casting of this classic Wizard of Oz character has not been revealed, she is widely rumored to be played by Alisha Weir.

Now, a social media video from Weir’s sister, Katie Rose Weir, has led to further speculation that the Abigail star will play the role. The post was a reaction video to the Wicked: For Good trailer. Katie was emotional throughout, but seemed to smile whenever Dorothy came on screen.

A post from @wickednewshub summarized the fans’ reaction to this video, saying, “Fans noticed Katie smile each time Dorothy appeared.” They took this as proof of Alisha Weir’s casting, saying “I think it’s fair to say we know who our Dorothy is…

What This Means For Wicked: For Good

Alisha Weir Herself Has Commented On This

Alisha Weir herself has not confirmed nor denied her casting as Dorothy. In a February 2025 interview with RTE News, Weir was asked to respond to the rumors that she would be playing Dorothy in Wicked: For Good. In response, Weir noted that it was “absolutely crazy” how much the rumors of her Dorothy role had taken off. She said it would be “wonderful” if she got the chance to play her, as she is a Wicked fan, but that was the extent of her comments.

This failure to deny the casting rumors has already led many to believe that Weir is in fact playing the role. Katie Rose Weir is a performer herself, so it is not entirely unrealistic that she would want to react to the Wicked: For Good trailer. However, the combination of her posting the reaction and her quiet smiles to the trailer’s Dorothy moments are certainly another step in the direction of evidence that Alisha Weir will be playing Dorothy.

Our Take On Alisha Weir’s Dorothy Casting Rumors

Her Casting Makes Sense

Dorothy is 7 years old in the original Wizard of Oz book, but is supposed to be 12 years old in the movie. Weir is currently 15, around the same age that Judy Garland was when she portrayed Dorothy in the movie. Weir is one of the more well-known actors in this age category, especially among those known for both musicals and standard movies. As such, her casting in Wicked: For Good would make sense, and the growing evidence of this claim makes it seem more likely.
