Ben Affleck & Jon Bernthal’s $101 Million Action Movie Becomes Streaming Hit Shortly After Its Debut

Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal‘s action movie, which made over $101 million at the box office, becomes a streaming hit shortly after its debut. After his Oscar win for Good Will Hunting in 1997, Affleck established himself as an action star during the late 1990s and early 2000s with roles in Armageddon, Reindeer Games, Pearl Harbor, and The Sum of All Fears. Affleck further established his action persona with his role as Batman in the DCEU movies Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Bernthal, on the other hand, also has an equally established action persona due to his superhero role as The Punisher, debuting in the second season of Daredevil in 2016, starring in spin-off series The Punisher from 2017 to 2019, and recently reprising the role in 2025 for the MCU series Daredevil: Born Again. Bernthal is also best known for other TV shows, such as his role as Shane in The Walking ᴅᴇᴀᴅ and his recurring guest role in The Bear, the latter of which won him an Emmy Award.

The Accountant 2 Becomes A Streaming Hit

It’s The No. 1 Movie On Prime Video

The Accountant 2 has become a streaming hit. A sequel to 2016’s The Accountant, once again directed by Gavin O’Connor and written by Bill Dubuque, the action thriller sees Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal reprising their roles as brothers Christian Wolff and Braxton, who uncover a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly conspiracy and become targets of a ruthless network of ᴀssᴀssins. The Accountant 2 cast also includes J.K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson reprising their roles from the first film, with Daniella Pineda joining the ensemble.

Now, shortly after its debut on June 5, Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal’s action movie has become a streaming hit. The Accountant 2 is currently the No. 1 movie on Prime Video. In the Top 10, it ranks above the original movie, The Accountant, and A Working Man, The Equalizer 3, Heretic, Presence, Another Simple Favor, Me Before You, Bhool Chuk Maaf, and Babygirl.

Our Take On The Accountant 2’s Streaming Success

It Isn’t A Surprise

The Accountant 2 becoming the number one movie on Prime Video isn’t much of a surprise. It’s a new movie on the streaming service featuring big stars in Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal. Despite middling box-office returns, making only $101 million against its $80 million budget, The Accountant 2 reviews have been mostly positive, praising Affleck and Bernthal’s buddy comedy chemistry and calling it an overall good time. For Prime Video, it’s a natural number one.
