Jensen Ackles’ Batman Enters James Gunn’s DC Universe In Superman Movie Concept Poster

Jensen Ackles is the perfect Batman for the new DC Universe and David Corenswet’s Superman movie in a new concept poster. Ackles has become the fan-favorite among the popular candidates to play the lead in DC’s The Brave and the Bold Batman movie. With the script for the film still being worked on by a secret writer — James Gunn is closely working with him on it — casting for the role is still some time away. That said, many believe Batman could make a surprise debut in Gunn’s Superman movie, and a new concept poster imagines just that.

On Twitter, @grok came up with a great showcase of what Jensen Ackles could look like as Batman in DC’s upcoming Superman movie.

The Superman concept poster is a variation of another mockup that imagined Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight from The Batman crossing over into the DCU’s Chapter One. However, that will likely never happen, as Gunn has reiterated many times that Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne will remain separate from the DCU. Ackles looks pitch-perfect as Batman with Pattinson’s suit in the poster, once again showing how the actor could be an interesting pick for the DCU Batman.

What The Jensen Ackles DCU Batman Concept Poster Means

The Actor Wants To Play The New Bruce Wayne

Since the concept poster is far from official, fans who want Ackles to play the DCU Batman will have to wait longer. The actor has voiced Bruce Wayne in multiple animated movies for DC set in the studio’s Tomorrowverse continuity. Added to that, Ackles has made his desire to play the DCU’s Batman clear and has live-action superhero experience for the role. That comes from the actor’s performance as Soldier Boy — a dark parody of Captain America — on the Prime Video hit series The Boys. Ackles will return for the show’s final season in 2026.

What the concept poster does is reaffirm how good of a match for Batman Ackles is. The actor has plenty of experience with darker roles that suit someone like Bruce Wayne. Ackles also looks perfect in the hero’s iconic Batsuit, which every good Batman actor must. While there is no word on when casting for Batman will begin other than after the script is ready, the fan campaign for Ackles to get cast as Batman and his previous voice work as the hero should at least help him get an audition for the coveted role.

Our Take On The Jensen Ackles DCU Batman Concept Poster

I like the new Jensen Ackles Batman concept poster because it only reinforces my idea of how perfect for the role he is. Not only does he look the part, but Ackles has the acting skills to back it up and has expressed his desire to play the new Batman. That seems like a match made in heaven. Even though he is older than David Corenswet, the DCU’s Superman, Ackles would fit a Batman who has an entire Bat-Family nicely, which is what Gunn is going for. As such, Jensen Ackles is perfect for Batman, as the concept poster shows.
