Ready Or Not 2 Is “Exactly What Audiences Want” According To Star: Bigger, Funnier & Scarier

The star of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come has teased the upcoming horror sequel. The 2026 release is a follow-up to the 2019 movie, which follows new bride Grace (Samara Weaving) being forced into a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly game of hide-and-seek by her in-laws, the Le Domas family. While plot details for the upcoming Ready or Not 2 are still under wraps, Samara Weaving will return alongside directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The new ensemble cast includes Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Néstor Carbonell, David Cronenberg, Kevin Durand, and Elijah Wood.

ScreenRant‘s Grant Hermanns sat down for an interview with Samara Weaving and Ray Nicholson when they were promoting their 2025 stalker thriller Borderline. During the conversation, Weaving shared her excitement for Ready or Not 2, which had recently concluded filming. She expressed a wish that the shooting could have kept going for even longer, teased that the movie is “exactly what the audience will want and praised the cast, particularly Kathryn Newton and Elijah Wood. She also shared that the sequel blends comedy and horror once more, saying that “it’s just more, and bigger.” Read her full quote below:

I think it’s exactly what the audience will want. It’s just more, and bigger, but it’s funny, and it’s scary, and it’s bada–. I think it’ll tick all the boxes, and more. It was so much fun, I could have kept shooting that for ages. It was really good, and Kathryn, the whole cast, Elijah, everyone is just so funny and good. She’s the best.

What This Means For Ready Or Not 2

There Are Ways To Expand On The Original

While the story of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is unknown, the fact that Weaving is teasing that the 2026 horror sequel is even bigger means that it will probably explore the overall universe of the franchise more thoroughly. This is eminently doable, as the original movie took place almost entirely within the confines of a single mansion and on its grounds. It also explored one single family’s relationship to their supernatural patron Le Bail, who is responsible for their wealth and success but demands sacrifice.

[Ready or Not] ended with the Le Domas family being destroyed…

However, due to the fact that the original Samara Weaving horror movie ended with the Le Domas family being destroyed, seemingly in its entirety, it seems highly likely that the sequel will have to introduce new followers of Le Bail. If the sequel features another game of hide-and-seek, its location will probably also be limited. However, by bringing in more characters involved in the ᴅᴇᴀᴅly game, the movie will necessarily expand the lore around Le Bail and how far the enтιтy’s influence spreads.

Her Enthusiasm Is Promising

Weaving’s enthusiasm for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come makes the upcoming movie seem like an even more exciting prospect. If it lives up to her promise of continuing to be a precise horror comedy while being even bigger than the original, it could live up to the original in the way that makes the horror series a viable film franchise, even though it took half a decade for it to come to fruition in the first place. This could mean that even more sequels will be on their way before long.
