Lilo & Sтιтch Box Office Hits An Incredible Global Milestone, Which Only Two Other 2025 Movies Have Accomplished

Lilo & Sтιтch has rocketed past yet another major milestone. The 2025 Disney movie is a live-action remake of their 2002 animated hit of the same name. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, it follows Sтιтch (Chris Sanders), an alien genetic experiment who escapes capture and crash-lands on Hawai’i, where he bonds with local orphaned girl Lilo (Maia Kealoha). The Lilo & Sтιтch release kicked off by breaking the record for the highest-grossing Memorial Day weekend debut of all time and has since blasted past a number of huge box office milestones.

Per Box Office Mojo, Lilo & Sтιтch has now risen to a worldwide box office total of $775.8 million. That comes from the movie’s $339.3 million haul at the domestic box office and an additional $436.5 million from international markets, where it is playing in more than four dozen different territories. This total makes it only the third movie to pᴀss the $775 million global milestone in 2025 after A Minecraft Movie ($954.1 million) and Ne Zha 2 ($1.899 billion).

What This Means For Lilo & Sтιтch

Its Success Is Nearly Unmatched

The fact that the Lilo & Sтιтch box office has hit this milestone is remarkable because it only recently crossed the $750 million milestone worldwide, as of the end of Sunday. This means it has taken just three days for it to gross another $25 million, during weekdays in the middle of its third full week in theaters. This shows a solid audience hold during a time when many movies’ runs would have already begun to slow down significantly.

It is currently No. 6 [on the the chart of the highest-grossing Disney live-action remakes.]

In addition to widening the gap between itself and the fourth highest-grossing movie of the year (which is now Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning with $451.9 million), this Lilo & Sтιтch milestone puts it on a trajectory to eventually gross more than $1 billion and continue climbing up the chart of the highest-grossing Disney live-action remakes. It is currently No. 6, but it seems on track to zoom past The Jungle Book ($966.5 million), Alice in Wonderland ($1.025 billion), and Aladdin ($1.051 billion) to hit at least No. 3.

Our Take On The Lilo & Sтιтch Box Office Milestone

It Will Soon Have Major Compeтιтion

While the Disney movie seems to be on track to become an even bigger hit than it already is, it will have major compeтιтion during its fourth weekend in the form of the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon, DreamWorks’ live-action remake of their 2010 animated movie, which was also co-directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders of the original Lilo & Sтιтch. Sтιтch will almost certainly lose ground to the newer movie, but its nearly unprecedented growth shows that it likely still has enough momentum to continue to climb the charts in spite of that.
