In a historic and terrifying leap in the Iran-Israel war, Iran has unleashed its advanced Sejjil ballistic missile for the first time in combat, sending shockwaves through Tel Aviv and Washington.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired multiple Sejjil-2 missiles in a coordinated nighttime barrage targeting central and northern Israel. Israeli air defenses struggled to track the weapon, nicknamed the “Dancing Missile” for its high-speed mid-flight maneuvers and evasive capabilities. At least two warheads penetrated the Iron Dome and Arrow systems, causing powerful explosions near Tel Aviv suburbs and the Haifa region. Fires and significant damage were reported on the ground.

The Sejjil is no ordinary missile. This solid-fuel, two-stage “monster weapon” carries a mᴀssive 1.5-ton warhead, reaches hypersonic speeds, and can perform unpredictable maneuvers during flight. Unlike older liquid-fuel missiles, it can be launched in minutes from mobile platforms, making it extremely difficult to detect and destroy in time.
Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s regime celebrated the strike as “the True Promise fulfilled,” vowing that more advanced missiles will follow if U.S. and Israeli aggression continues. Iranian state media broadcast footage of the launches, declaring that “Tel Aviv will never sleep peacefully again.”

This latest barrage comes as Operation Epic Fury shows dangerous signs of exhaustion. The United States has already burned through more than $11 billion in munitions in just two weeks. Both the USS Gerald R. Ford and USS Abraham Lincoln remain severely limited by repeated fires and Iranian missile damage. Critical radar systems across the Gulf have been destroyed, and interceptor stockpiles are running dangerously low.
As explosions echo across Israeli cities and the “Dancing Missile” rewrites the rules of engagement, one uncomfortable question is now being asked in Jerusalem and Washington: Has this war reached a point where even America’s and Israel’s most advanced defenses can no longer guarantee safety?
Iran is not collapsing. It is evolving. And the Sejjil has just changed everything.
