Alongside the emotional video, Hemsworth also shared a statement about his time in the franchise, where he claims playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of his life. During a 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth made it seem that if Thor was to return, then it might be time for the hero to die. According to the actor, if he were to come back, “it’d probably be the finale” of Thor’s MCU journey. Hemsworth even went a step further by describing the hero’s journey, saying, “You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero.” Based on those comments, fans have long been wondering whether Thor would die in the MCU.

Thor dying in Avengers: Doomsday would fall in line with that, and since Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is in the film, he could be reunited with his brother before pᴀssing.
