This would be the third live-action adaptation of the series after 1994’s Street Fighter and 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

Still, there isn’t the same demand for fighter video game movies as there is for Minecraft.

The best-performing video game movies appeal to kids or adults who grew up with the games. The Sonic the Hedgehog films and The Super Mario Bros. Movie performed very well at the box office, and A Minecraft Movie joins that crowd. While Street Fighter does have appeal for adults, it doesn’t have the same appeal for kids. While the movie with Momoa could perform well, the actor would find more success if he returned for a Minecraft sequel.
