The Fantastic Four’s Doctor Doom Face-Off Teased By First Steps Star Joseph Quinn

The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Joseph Quinn shares his excitement on battling Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets ready to introduce the Fantastic Four in Phase 6, the famous team is also getting brought into the Avengers aspect of the franchise, with the four heroes returning as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast. With Downey Jr. coming back as Victor von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom, it will mark the MCU’s first time having the famous villain facing off with not just the Avengers, but also Marvel’s First Family.

In a new interview with Esquire, Quinn, who is one of the confirmed The Fantastic Four: First Steps cast members for Avengers: Doomsday, opened up about Marvel’s First Family taking on Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. As Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production, the Johnny Storm star shared the following:

Thankfully, we [Pedro, Vanessa and Ebon] all get on. I’m really excited to work with Doom — big RDJ fan — and to see my lovely Fantastic family, and get back in the harness.

What Joseph Quinn’s MCU Comments Mean For Avengers: Doomsday

The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailers have proved the chemistry between all the leading characters is incredible, which is why it makes sense to hear how thrilled Quinn is to reunite with his cast members. Given how iconic the Fantastic Four players are in the Marvel canon, getting their dynamic right in their first MCU film is incredibly important, as it will set the foundation for the group going forward in the franchise. That includes their big return in Avengers: Doomsday, especially as it relates to Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

When it comes to Avengers: Doomsday, it still remains to be seen how the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom’s connections will be dealt with in the MCU, as it is still unclear how the Phase 6 installment will tackle Victor looking exactly like Tony Stark. But given the rich history that exists between Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four in the larger Marvel canon, the Avengers: Doomsday story is bound to have something big ready for fans. While Quinn obviously couldn’t give any spoilers, time will tell if any details about the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom will emerge during Avengers: Doomsday’s filming process.

Hearing how excited Quinn is, it will be fascinating to see how Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four are like together in Avengers: Doomsday. Following the previous Fantastic Four movies, the MCU will ideally be able to give fans a proper showdown between Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four, alongside the X-Men and Avengers. Hopefully, more details on the Fantastic Four’s role in Avengers: Doomsday will emerge sooner rather than later, as the MCU gets ready to take on Doctor Doom in The Multiverse Saga.
