The Accountant 2 Achieves A Major Box Office Milestone As It Climbs Higher In Ben Affleck’s All-Time Charts

The Accountant 2 crosses a major global box office milestone. Starring Ben Affleck in the lead role, Christian Wolff, Jon Bernthal as Brax, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Marybeth Medina, and Daniella Pineda as Anaïs, the movie sees the тιтular accountant teaming up with his estranged brother from the original movie, The Accountant, to track down ᴀssᴀssins following FinCEN director Raymond King’s (J.K. Simmons) death.

According to Box Office Mojo, the sequel has made more than $100 million at the global box office, surpᴀssing the 2003 Paycheck at 15th on Affleck’s all-time chart among all 55 movies. The Town and The Accountant currently occupy the 14th and 13th spots, having garnered $154 million and $155.5 million globally from their theatrical runs, respectively. The top spot on the actor’s all-time chart is currently occupied by the 2016 movie, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which amᴀssed more than $874 million globally.

What This Means For The Accountant 2

The Accountant 2 Has A Long Way To Make It Into Ben Affleck’s Top 10

Despite crossing another major global box office, the 2025 action thriller still needs another $55 million to match the 2016 original movie’s box office and $93.5 million to surpᴀss the 2010 movie, The Sum of All Fear, to make it onto the actor’s top 10 list. After opening on April 25, the movie is approaching its fifth week in theaters. While it doesn’t look very likely that the movie will be among Affleck’s highest-grossing films, there’s still a chance for the sequel to surpᴀss the original’s box office at the end of its theatrical run.

The Accountant 2 opened to $24 million domestically at the box office during its opening weekend, which is around the same as the 2016 original. However, the new movie had a significantly larger production budget of $80 million, which nearly doubled the original’s $44 million budget. Despite falling a little short in comparison to the original’s success, the movie is still in the top 20 of Ben Affleck’s catalog.

Our Take On The Accountant 2’s Box Office

The Accountant 2 Still Falls Short Of The Original’s Box Office Success

The Accountant 2‘s commercial success is smaller in scale in comparison to The Accountant. While Affleck and director Gavin O’Connor have openly discussed the possibility of a threequel, Amazon MGM have yet to confirm The Accountant 3. Pᴀssing another global box office milestone is good news, but whether it’ll be enough to grant the Ben Affleck film series another тιтle is unknown.

So far, The Accountant 2 doesn’t have a streaming release date. It’s also unclear how long its theatrical run will last, but given the movie has spent less than five weeks in theaters, it’s still early to say how much it’ll make by the end of its run. With the release of Tom Cruise’s action thriller Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Disney’s Lilo & Sтιтch, and the return of the infamous horror franchise Final Destination, the movie is facing tough compeтιтion at the box office.
