Final Destination Bloodlines Hits Major Global Milestone, Even Outgrossing One Sequel's Entire Box Office Run

Final Destination Bloodlines has hit an astounding global box office milestone within just three days. The new movie is the sixth installment in the supernatural slasher franchise, which follows various groups of people cheating death and being hunted down by Death itself one by one in a variety of violent ways. The Final Destination Bloodlines release kicked off on May 16, taking No. 1 at the domestic box office over the weekend and toppling Marvel’s Thunderbolts* after two consecutive weekends atop the chart.

Per Variety, as of Sunday morning, Final Destination Bloodlines is projected to conclude its opening weekend with a 3-day gross of $51 million at the domestic box office with a matching $51 million haul from 71 international markets. This brings its cumulative global total to $102 million over the course of a single weekend, outgrossing the entire worldwide run of 2003’s Final Destination 2, which earned $90.4 million. It is also only the 10th 2025 movie to pᴀss the $100 million milestone worldwide and the second horror movie to do so, behind Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.

It Is Already A Sterling Horror Success

By hitting the $100 million milestone worldwide, Bloodlines has distinguished itself in a number of ways. As it relates to the previous five Final Destination movies, it has earned what is by far the best opening weekend of the entire franchise. Its $51 million domestic haul nearly doubles the franchise’s previous high, which was the $27.4 million earned by the fourth installment in 2009. Its $51 million haul, which beats the $48 million earned by the runaway hit Sinners earlier this year, also gives it the best opening for an R-rated horror movie in the 2020s. It has also become only the 117th horror movie in history to pᴀss the $100 million milestone worldwide, regardless of their rating. Iconic тιтles that it has already surpᴀssed include Insidious ($99.9 million), Train to Busan ($95.6 million), The Purge ($91.3 million), the original Amityville Horror ($86.4 million), and 28 Days Later ($82.8 million).

It will most likely not be long before the new movie has cemented itself as a hit. While it has the highest price tag of any installment thanks to a reported budget of $50 million, this places its estimated break-even point at $125 million, a total that it is likely to reach before the end of its first full week in theaters. Its current momentum will probably also be propelled by the glowing Final Destination Bloodlines reviews that have earned it a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 93%, which is by far the best in the franchise.
