Beetlejuice 3 Introducing A Missing Deetz Family Member Makes Sense After Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s Biggest Death

Beetlejuice 3 could introduce a missing Beetlejuice family member, something that would make perfect sense after Beetlejuice Beetlejuice‘s biggest death. Beetlejuice 3 has been officially confirmed, with the upcoming sequel building off the mᴀssive success of 2024’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is considered to be one of the better legacy sequels, with it bringing back director Tim Burton and most of the original Beetlejuice cast. While it tells an original story, it also features some major reveals about the original Beetlejuice, especially one that Beetlejuice 3 needs to build off of.

Very little is known about Beetlejuice 3, as the film has just been announced. However, the movie will probably again follow the Deetz family as they deal with Betelgeuse’s bioexorcism antics, with Lyida Deetz and Astrid Deetz teaming up for another adventure. The Deetz family has been at the center of Beetlejuice since the very beginning, meaning that it would be weird to do Beetlejuice 3 without them. However, Deetz family members are dying quicker than they’re being added, meaning that Beetlejuice 3 needs to take the perfect opportunity to introduce a missing Deetz family member.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Finally Confirmed That Lydia’s Mom Is Alive

After Years Of ᴀssuming That She Was ᴅᴇᴀᴅ

One of the biggest reveals in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is that Lydia Deetz’s mom is actually alive. Delia Deetz is Lydia Deetz stepmother, although she is around when the first Beetlejuice starts. In the original film, virtually no information is given about Lydia’s biological mother. Since the film is all about death, many fans simply ᴀssumed that Lydia’s mother died sometime before the events of the film. However, it turns out that this isn’t the case.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice features a discussion between Lydia and Delia about Lydia’s mom, revealing that she is alive. Lydia explicitly states that her mother is still alive, a reveal that may have shocked some longtime Beetlejuice fans. However, no details are given regarding the whereabouts or idenтιтy of Lydia’s mother. The character still hasn’t been named or given a backstory, although we now know she is out there somewhere.

Beetlejuice 3 Introducing Lydia’s Mom Makes More Sense After Delia’s Death

She Would Be The Perfect Delia Replacement

Now that Delia Deetz is ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, it would make perfect sense for Beetlejuice 3 to introduce Lydia’s mother. Near the end of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Delia is bitten by a venomous snake, causing her to die. Delia explores the afterlife for a while looking for Charles, with the duo eventually being reunited. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ends with Delia and Charles getting on the Soul Train and leaving the afterlife.

Although Beetlejuice‘s afterlife world means that Delia can always come back, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice seems to give the character a sense of finality. So, in order to keep the dynamic seen in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the third movie needs to introduce another mother figure for Lydia. Lydia’s birth mother would be the perfect Delia replacement, finally allowing the franchise to explore this mysterious character’s story.

Lydia’s Mom Can Appear In Beetlejuice 3 Even If Delia Returns Too

They Can Appear In Beetlejuice 3 Together

While the death of Delia seems like the perfect way to introduce Lydia’s mother, she could still appear if Delia returns. There is no reason that Lydia has to only have one parental figure in Beetlejuice 3. In fact, having two may be interesting. The feud between Lydia’s absent mother and her ᴅᴇᴀᴅ stepmother could be a fun dynamic, continuing the multi-generational themes of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in a fun way.

Since Catherine O’Hara is one of the best parts of the Beetlejuice franchise, completely getting rid of her in Beetlejuice 3 probably isn’t the best idea. However, still introducing Lydia’s birth mother would be an interesting way to shake up the dynamic. Thus, there really isn’t a way that Beetlejuice 3 can go wrong, as long as it expands on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice‘s reveal about Lydia’s mother.
