Adrien Brody’s 3.5 Hour Acclaimed Drama Is Finally Streaming 2 Months After His Oscar-Winning Performance

The Brutalist, which won three Oscars at the 2025 Academy Awards, is finally available to watch on streaming. The film, which is directed by Brady Corbet, is undoubtedly one of the best movies of 2025. It was one of the standout films during awards season, which led to Adrien Brody winning Best Actor at the Oscars. In addition to Brody, the cast of The Brutalist includes Guy Pierce, Felicity Jones, and Joe Alwyn.

Corbet’s most recent movie not only tells a very captivating story, but it was also one of the most unique theater experiences of 2024. The Brutalist has a long runtime of 3 hours and 35 minutes, which actually includes a 15-minute intermission. Intermissions are almost never included in modern movies, but The Brutalist’s break allows viewers to process and reflect on the story before the second half of the film. However, now that the movie is no longer playing in theaters, viewers can finally enjoy The Brutalist from the comfort of their own home by streaming it on Max.

Adrien Brody’s The Brutalist Is Now Streaming On Max: What It’s About

The Brutalist Is An Amazing Movie About The Immigrant Experience

In The Brutalist, Brody plays László Tóth, a renowned European architect who immigrates to America after World War II. László was tragically separated from his wife, Erzsébet, during the war, so is forced to travel all alone. László eventually settles in Pennsylvania and starts working for his cousin. However, it would be years before he gets another job as an architect. While simply trying to get by and get used to his new life in America, László meets Harrison, a wealthy businessman.

Harrison eventually hires László to design a new community center for his small Pennsylvania town. László also meets Harrison’s lawyer, who helps get Erzsébet and their niece, Zsófia, to America. László’s relationship with Harrison initially seems to be beneficial for everyone involved, but things start to get complicated when construction on the community center begins. In The Brutalist, László, Erzsébet, and Zsófia must all adjust to their new lives while dealing with the trauma brought on by their experiences during the Holocaust.

Adrien Brody Won His Second Oscar For His Performance In The Brutalist

Brody Is Incredible In The Brutalist

There are many similarities between The Brutalist and The Pianist, the film which Brody won his first Academy Award for in 2003. After winning Best Actor this year, Brody is now two for two at the Academy Awards and has found himself in an elite group of actors. While Brody was the frontrunner to win Best Actor throughout awards season, he did not have an easy category. At the 2025 Oscars, Brody was nominated alongside Timothée Chalamet, Ralph Fiennes, Colman Domingo, and Sebastian Stan.

Chalamet, in particular, was undoubtedly Brody’s main compeтιтion in the category after portraying Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. However, Brody ultimately ended up winning the award, which is well-deserved since László Tóth is a fascinating character. In addition to Brody’s Best Actor win, The Brutalist also won Best Cinematography and Best Film Score at the 2025 Oscars. While it did not win Best Picture, these aforementioned accomplishments prove that it is still worth a watch on Max.

Why The Brutalist Was So Well-Received

The Brutalist Has Been Applauded For Its Deeper Themes

In addition to its amazing performances, brilliant direction, stunning cinematography, and inspiring score, The Brutalist has also been praised for its examination of themes like trauma, ambition, and survival. Ever since its initial premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, The Brutalist has been applauded for its portrayal of the immigrant experience. Therefore, The Brutalist is so highly regarded because it’s one of the most thought-provoking movies of 2024. Because of this, The Brutalist is a movie that you don’t want to miss out on, which is why it’s great that it’s finally streaming on Max.
