US-Iran War: Australia, Japan Refuse Trump’s Call To Send Warships To Hormuz.hl

In a major diplomatic blow to the United States, both Australia and Japan have firmly refused President Trump’s urgent request to deploy warships to help secure the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions with Iran.

According to senior diplomatic sources, Trump personally appealed to Canberra and Tokyo in the past 48 hours, asking for naval support to protect commercial shipping and challenge Iran’s growing control over the critical chokepoint. Both allies politely but decisively declined, citing “serious risks” and “strategic priorities closer to home.”

Australia’s Defence Minister stated that while Canberra supports freedom of navigation, sending warships into what has become a “live war zone” is not currently viable. Japan, heavily dependent on Middle Eastern oil, expressed deep concern over the situation but chose to maintain its long-standing policy of defensive-only naval operations.

This refusal comes as a significant embarrᴀssment for the Trump administration. With the USS Gerald R. Ford still crippled by repeated fires and the USS Abraham Lincoln operating under heavy restrictions after Iranian missile attacks, America is struggling to secure the Strait alone. The U.S. has already burned through more than $11 billion in munitions in just two weeks, with critical interceptor stocks running low and radar systems across the Gulf severely degraded.

The rejections highlight growing international reluctance to join what many governments now view as an increasingly costly and open-ended American-led conflict. Israel continues to face relentless Iranian missile barrages, while Iranian forces maintain pressure on U.S. bases in the region and keep the Hormuz route highly dangerous.

Analysts say the decisions by two of America’s closest allies signal a worrying erosion of international support for Operation Epic Fury. As Tehran grows bolder and the economic costs of the war continue to climb, Washington appears increasingly isolated in its campaign.

Is the United States now fighting this war largely alone? As key partners step back from the brink, the pressure on President Trump to reconsider America’s strategy in the Gulf is mounting rapidly.

The world is watching closely — and the cracks in the coalition are beginning to show.
