The Superman Trailer Just Revealed How Powerful The DCU’s Green Lanterns Are

The new Superman trailer just revealed how powerful the Green Lantern Corps is going to be in the DCU. Although the first live-action DCU project has yet to be released, we already know of three Green Lanterns who are set to make their imminent debut. Beginning with Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner in James Gunn’s Superman, the newest trailer has revealed some impressive footage of the DCU’s first Green Lantern in action.

Based upon what we know and have seen from Superman so far, it’s been confirmed that Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern will be a member of the Justice Gang, a team of heroes founded by Maxwell Lord, who will be working alongside the Man of Steel in the new movie. The DCU will also see the release of Lanterns in 2026, starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Now, the new Superman trailer has proven just how powerful the Green Lanterns are going to be in the live-action DCU.

The Green Lanterns Are Seriously Powerful In DC Comics

But They Haven’t Gotten A Chance To Truly Show Their Stuff In Live-Action

In DC Comics, the officers of the Green Lantern Corps are some of the most powerful beings in the entire universe. This is particularly true of those hailing from Earth, including the human officers set to debut in the new DCU. Charged with the green light of willpower held within the Central Power Battery on Oa, the Green Lanterns use their power rings to protect their ᴀssigned sectors of the galaxy, creating hard-light energy constructs of anything their minds can imagine.

The rings also grant the Green Lanterns the ability to fly, create force fields, heal injuries, have superhuman strength, and access wormholes for quick travel to and from Oa. Essentially, a Green Lantern’s power is only limited by their own willpower and imagination, so long as their ring is charged. The same is also true for other Lanterns, whose powers come from other colors on the Emotional Spectrum. Regardless, the full power of any Lantern hasn’t been seen in live-action since 2011’s widely controversial Green Lantern movie, and not at all in the brand-new DCU.

Superman’s Latest Movie Trailer Demonstrates How Powerful The Green Lanterns Are

Guy Gardner Is Swatting Soldier Like Flies

Now, the new Superman trailer has given us our best look yet at how powerful the Green Lanterns will be in the DCU. In the trailer, a brief sH๏τ of Guy Gardner is shown casually walking past an entire contingent of armed soldiers. With a wave of Guy Gardner’s ringed hand, a giant green construct of a hand bursts from the ground, throwing several of the troops into the air and filling over armored cars.

Naturally, the flippant atтιтude toward the soldiers 100% fits the established arrogance of Guy in the comics. However, the sH๏τ also helps quantify just how powerful the Lanterns will be in the DCU, especially with Gardner set to take out a whole platoon with a lazy wave of his hand. One can only imagine how strong the DCU’s Green Lanterns will be when their willpower is actually put to the test.

Making the Green Lanterns look as powerful as they deserve will be very important for the DCU. After all, Green Lanterns have some of the most fantastical abilities in all of DC Comics, something 2011’s Green Lantern can attest can be hard to depict well on screen. That being said, this quick sH๏τ of Guy Gardner actively ring-slinging is a very good sign for the future, both for James Gunn’s Superman and Lanterns next year with Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

Superman releases in theaters on July 11th, 2025. Lanterns premieres on HBO Max in 2026.
