3 Stars Play Improv Actors Undercover As London Gangsters In Exclusive Deep Cover Image

This article is part of ScreenRant‘s Exclusive Summer 2025 Movie Preview. Keep an eye out for the full feature this week!

, three actors use their improv skills to go undercover as London gangsters. Directed by Tom Kingsley, the upcoming crime comedy stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Nick Mohammed as the three improv actors in question, who work with the police in order to take down criminals in the English capital. As seen in the Deep Cover trailer, the three stars will be joined by Sean Bean, Paddy Considine, and Ian McShane, with hijinks ensuing as the comedic performers are forced to think on their feet when faced with real danger.

Ahead of the film’s release in June, ScreenRant presents a new image from Deep Cover, showing Howard, Bloom, and Mohammed Kat, Marlon, and Hugh, respectively. The image shows the three stars standing together in what looks to be an apartment, all looking at someone or something just off-screen. Check out the new image below:

Accompanying the new image, producer Colin Trevorrow also shares a fun behind-the-scenes anecdote from the Deep Cover production, revealing that a vintage car will play a role in the film, and that it wasn’t exactly reliable:

“Just like on Safety Not Guaranteed — we had a vintage car that only sometimes worked and a limited budget. For a key moment, the director (Tom) and the producer (me) had to physically push the car to get it to land in frame for its last sH๏τ once it stopped running.”

What This Means For Deep Cover

The Prime Video Film Will Mark A Change For Orlando Bloom & Bryce Dallas Howard

Though Bloom may be looking serious in the image above, the Deep Cover trailer confirms that the star will be playing a far more comedic role than normal. His roles in both the Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings movies certainly had moments of comedy, but Bloom’s career has since been defined by more serious work. He starred in the military movie The Outpost (2019), for example, in addition to Carnival Row, a dark fantasy TV series. He also recently appeared in Gran Turismo (2023). Deep Cover, then, will mark a departure for the star.

Howard has similarly not been a mainstay of the comedy genre. She recently starred as Claire Dearing in the three most recent Jurᴀssic World movies, for example, in addition to playing Sheila in Rocketman (2019). An exception would be Argylle (2024), a spy comedy, but that film was a notable critical and commercial failure. Mohammed has the most experience of the three as a comedic actor, appearing as part of the Ted Lᴀsso cast as Nathan Shelley, on top of roles in Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) and various comedic TV shows.

Our Take On The New Deep Cover Image

The 3 Leads Could Excel

Though the new Deep Cover image may not reveal too much about the story’s twists and turns to come, it does highlight what is sure to be a unique pairing of actors. It will be particularly exciting to see Howard and Bloom in more comedic roles after years of playing more serious parts. Mohammed is sure to be reliably fun in the film, and his experience in comedy could help to elevate his costars.

While there is sure to be plenty of comedy in Deep Cover, the dramatic stakes will seemingly be quite high, with the premise involving dangerous criminals. Striking this tonal balance could be a challenge, but the end result might end up being a unique genre experience.
