Spider-Man: Brand New Day Casting Ramps Up Ahead Of Filming Starting This Year

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast has landed its newest member as Tom Holland gets closer to making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he has been missing from the franchise since 2021, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are finally getting ready to bring Peter Parker back in the upcoming MCU movie. The next phase brings the Multiverse Saga to an end, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the third film to come out during Phase 6, with Destin Daniel Cretton set to helm Holland’s new sequel.

In a new report from ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas has closed a deal to join the MCU in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Her role is currently being kept a mystery; Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have yet to comment on Colón-Zayas’s casting. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has also previously tapped Stranger Things and The Whale star Sadie Sink in a new secret role, and filming is reportedly set to begin this summer in the U.K.

What Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Newest Casting Means

While time will tell who Colón-Zayas is playing, her casting addition means that things are moving in the right direction for Spider-Man: Brand New Day as they are getting through pre-production. With Colón-Zayas joining the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast, the film has reached the point where they are now ramping up casting, which means everything else should be on track for cameras to start rolling this summer. That would also suggest that more actors will be announced sooner rather than later, including who will may play the villain in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Given how long fans have had to wait for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, any positive updates are always appreciated, especially as the Phase 6 movie will get to explore the young adult phase of Peter’s life, following the events of Spider-Man. No Way Home. Whether or not Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios will announce Colón-Zayas’s character before Spider-Man: Brand New Day starts filming remains to be seen, though. But with Sink and Colón-Zayas being part of the film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already shaping up to bring some amazing talent into the MCU.

While Colón-Zayas’s casting becomes one of the newest mysteries to theorize about in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it doesn’t change the fact that the Phase 6 film has landed itself an incredible star. After her incredible performance as Tina Marrero on The Bear, which earned Colón-Zaya an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, it will be fascinating to see how she factors into Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as it wouldn’t be shocking if she plays someone important in Peter’s life.
