Another Simple Favor Copied The Original’s Biggest Twist & It’s Impossible For A Simple Favor 3 To Do It Again

Even though it is still a surprising film, Another Simple Favor actually copies the biggest twist from the first movie. Before the release of Another Simple Favor, I was unsure if a sequel was necessary since Emily was caught at the end of the first movie, which was released in 2018. However, Emily is out of prison in Another Simple Favor because of her influential fiancé, who is a member of the Italian mob. After being released from prison and getting engaged, Emily invites Stephanie to her lavish wedding in Capri, Italy.

Even though reviews for Another Simple Favor have been mixed, watching Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick share the screen once again is very entertaining. There are many shocking twists in Another Simple Favor which keep viewers on the edge of their seats. While the first film already revealed a lot about Emily’s backstory, the sequel surprisingly adds many more layers to her childhood. In doing so, Another Simple Favor actually copies the most shocking twist from the first movie by introducing Emily’s other sister, Charity.

Another Simple Favor Repeats A Simple Favor’s Secret Emily Sister Twist

Charity Surprisingly Shows Up In Another Simple Favor

In 2018’s A Simple Favor, Stephanie discovered that Emily’s real name is actually Hope and that she had a secret twin sister named Faith. After being blackmailed by Faith in the first movie, Emily actually killed her sister and used her body to stage her own death. In addition to Faith, the first film revealed that Emily originally had a third sister, who tragically died during childbirth. While Emily’s plan to cash in on her own life insurance policy failed in the first film, she returns in Another Simple Favor.

Aunt Linda, who delivered the sisters, actually stole Charity and used her to execute elaborate cons all over the world.

However, instead of once again being the villain, Emily has to work with Stephanie to solve a mystery at the end of Another Simple Favor thanks to the introduction of Charity, her other sister. Emily previously believed Charity died during childbirth, but the sequel reveals that Aunt Linda, who delivered the sisters, actually stole Charity and used her to execute elaborate cons all over the world. Therefore, by retconning Charity’s death, Another Simple Favor repeats the sister twist from the first movie.

It’s Impossible For A Simple Favor 3 To Do The Emily Sister Twist Again

All Of Emily’s Sisters Have Now Been Introduced

Since viewers and most of the characters in Another Simple Favor believed that Charity was ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, the reveal that she is the one who murdered Sean and Dante is shocking. While it is surprising, the first film established that Emily had another sister, meaning that Charity’s inclusion in Another Simple Favor isn’t completely out of the blue. Another Simple Favor successfully retcons the death of Charity, but a potential third film would not be able to repeat this twist again.

A third film in the A Simple Favor series has not officially been confirmed, but it is definitely teased in the sequel. It would be fun to watch Lively and Kendrick work together again in a third film, but it cannot include yet another sister twist. It has been established that Hope, Faith, and Charity were triplets, so it would be ridiculous if a secret fourth sister is introduced in the third movie. While A Simple Favor 3 can’t repeat this same twist, it can still do a lot with both Emily and Charity.

A Simple Favor 3 Doesn’t Need A Sister Twist After Another Simple Favor’s Ending

Emily & Charity Could Reunite In A Simple Favor 3

If A Simple Favor 3 does get made, then it won’t need to repeat this twist since both Emily and Charity are alive at the end of Another Simple Favor. While Faith was killed in the first movie, two of the sisters are still alive. Emily is in Europe and Charity is heading to prison, but a third film could find a way to bring them together again. Therefore, instead of repeating the same twist that surprised viewers in both the first movie and Another Simple Favor, the third film will have to come up with a new plot point.
