The action movie Fight or Flight is coming soon. The project follows Lucas Reyes (Josh Hartnett), a dissolute mercenary who takes on one last job: capturing an unknown hacker on an airplane full of ᴀssᴀssins who are ᴅᴇᴀᴅ-set on killing them. The movie, which also stars Charithra Chandran, Julian Kostov, and Katee Sackhoff, is Hartnett’s first movie since the 2024 M. Night Shyamalan thriller Trap, which marked his first lead role in a wide-release movie since 2007’s 30 Days of Night, though he had held other major roles in the meantime, including starring in the Showtime horror series Penny Dreadful.

The movie, which was directed by James Madigan (a second unit director on Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) from a screenplay by Brooks McLaren (How It Ends) and D.J. Cotrona (who played the superhero version of Pedro in the Shazam! movies) seems to be a promising continuation of Josh Hartnett’s triumphant return to the big screen. In fact, early Fight or Flight reviews have earned the movie a solidly Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 86%. While the score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, it is a significant improvement upon Trap‘s 57% and may help boost its theatrical release.

Vertical Is Bringing It To The United States

The first stage of its domestic release is imminent, because Fight or Flight is being released in theaters in the United States on May 9. It is being distributed in the U.S. by Vertical, the distributor behind recent тιтles including the MIchael Cera road comedy Sacramento, the horror video game adaptation Home Sweet Home Rebirth, and the Anthony Mackie monster adventure movie Elevation. It has already been available in select international regions either online or in limited theaters. For instance, the Josh Hartnett movie previously debuted in the United Kingdom on February 28 via the subscription service Sky Cinema.

When Will Fight Or Flight Release On Streaming?

It Will Most Likely Stream Before The End Of 2025

While Fight or Flight is already available on select international streaming platforms such as Sky Cinema, it will have an exclusive theatrical release in the United States rather than a day-and-date release where it is released on streaming at the same time. At the time of writing, it is unknown when it will arrive on streaming or on what platform. Vertical does not have an exclusive deal with any streaming service, and in previous years their movies have appeared on Hulu, Netflix, and more.

However, their recent releases offer some insight into how long it may be before the movie arrives on streaming. For instance, 2024’s Elevation arrived on Max on February 21, which was 105 days after its theatrical debut on November 8, 2024. Meanwhile, the Melissa Barrera horror-comedy Your Monster debuted on Max 91 days after its theatrical premiere and the Russell Crowe horror movie The Exorcism debuted on Shudder after 131 days. Given that rough range, Fight or Flight could debut on streaming sometime between August 8 and September 17.

Its VOD Date Will Probably Come Much Sooner

The video on demand release date for Fight or Flight is also unknown, though it will almost certainly come to VOD platforms in the United States before its streaming release date, as tends to be the industry standard for exclusive theatrical releases. For example, Elevation debuted on VOD platforms after just 18 days, Your Monster and The Exorcism followed suit with 18-day theatrical windows.

Additionally, Vertical’s 2025 fantasy movie In the Lost Lands, which debuted on March 7, is already available on premium video on demand at a price point of $19.99, having arrived on April 8, just 32 days after its theatrical premiere. If it sticks with the average of 18 days, Fight or Flight could be available on digital platforms as early as May 28, though it may not arrive until June 10 or later.
