ScreenRant has exclusively revealed a new image for The Phoenician Scheme. The adventure comedy is the latest from auteur director Wes Anderson, who is behind modern classic movies such as Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. The Phoenician Scheme will act as both a family drama and a global adventure, as businessman Zsa-Zsa Korda (Benicio Del Toro) works with his estranged daughter Liesl (Mia Threapleton) on various taxing journeys. The film features Del Toro, Threapleton, Michael Cera, Scarlett Johansson, Willem Dafoe, F. Murray Abraham, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, and Richard Ayoade.

As part of the 2025 Summer Movie Preview, ScreeRant can reveal a new image from The Phoenician Scheme. The image shows Zsa-Zsa and Liesl sitting across from each other. Del Toro’s character looks pretty beat up, with bandages on his chin and surrounding his head. Across from him, Liesl sits in a pure white nun outfit, looking unamused. Zsa-Zsa’s physical appearance is the result of a plane crash witnessed in The Phoenician Scheme trailer. The businessman has miraculously survived six plane crashes, and once again defies death despite some intense wreckage. In the trailer, the character’s eyes look puffy and his face is bleeding following the crash. He looks in significantly better condition than in the opening of the trailer, but this image makes it clear that the consequences of his injuries will affect his appearance throughout the film as a whole.

The image also says a lot about the relationship between Liesl and her well-off father. Liesl is one of Zsa-Zsa’s ten children and the only girl in the bunch. Despite Zsa-Zsa making her the sole heir to his estate, Liesl notes in the trailer that the pair have not met up in over six years. In this image, that emotional distance is shown between the characters, who are more than a cane’s length apart.
