Rachel Zegler’s Next Movie After Snow White Is Exactly What She Needs

The next Rachel Zegler movie after Snow White is good news for her career. Despite Zegler’s success with West Side Story and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Snow White has not fared well critically or commercially. While many reviews for Snow White praise Zegler’s performance in the live-action Disney remake, many other aspects of the film have been heavily criticized, and it holds a 40% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Snow White‘s box office has not done much better, with the movie considerably underperforming despite its hefty production budget. After the disappointment of Snow White, it was unclear what would be Zegler’s next movie, until reports of her joining the comedy-drama film She Gets It From Me. Zegler plays Nicky, whose engagement celebration goes in an unexpected direction when it turns into a search for her erratic birth mother, Charlotte (Marisa Tomei), and the two of them reconnect in a tale based on a true story.

Rachel Zegler Doing She Gets It From Me After Snow White Is Smart

It Is A Very Different Kind Of Movie

It is smart for Zegler to do a smaller, original comedy movie after being at the forefront of Snow White‘s cast. There is no baggage or high expectations attached to She Gets It From Me in the same way there was with Snow White. As a remake of a cherished movie that has existed since 1937, everyone had their own idea of what a Snow White live-action remake should look like, and that scrutiny was further intensified by it being the latest Disney movie.

She Gets It From Me is not coming from a mᴀssive studio like Disney and has no connection to any movie that has been a beloved childhood classic for nearly 100 years. There will not be the same level of pressure that there was for Snow White, and that should be liberating for Zegler. Between Snow White, West Side Story, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, she has been involved with many remakes and major franchises for a while now, but She Gets It From Me offers something original and entirely different.

She Gets It From Me Can Help Rachel Zegler Rebound From Snow White Quicker

It Bodes Well For Her Career

Beyond being a smaller, original movie, She Gets It From Me seems like a genuinely promising comedy, and could end up becoming one of Rachel Zegler’s best movies yet. The relationship between Nicky and Charlotte will be at the center of the character-driven movie and is poised to go into unpredictable, hilarious, and heartfelt territory. If it comes out within the next year and is well-received, it will be easier for Zegler’s career to be less ᴀssociated with Snow White.

She Gets It From Me could be the beginning of Zegler’s pivot into starring in more small and original movies as opposed to established IPs.

She Gets It From Me could be the beginning of Zegler’s pivot into starring in more small and original movies as opposed to established IPs. She is a talented actor, and her poorly-received movies, like Snow White, struggled for reasons other than her performances. She Gets It From Me can focus more on Zegler’s strong acting without the movie being bogged down in other areas.
