Scream 7 Progress Update Reveals Another Key Returning Creative

A Scream 7 progress update reveals that another key creative is coming back. The upcoming sequel in the long-running slasher franchise is directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original Scream movie and went on to write several sequels: Scream 2 and Scream 4. The upcoming Scream 7 also includes several returning cast members, including Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Roger L. Jackson, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Scott Foley.

Now, another key creative is returning. On Instagram, composer Marco Beltrami revealed that he will be back for Scream 7. He also shared a progress update, confirming that the movie is currently being edited. Responding to a commenter on his post who said, “Please do Scream 7,” Beltrami replied, “Don’t worry. I am.

What Composer Marco Beltrami’s Return Means For Scream 7

Another Key Creative Is Coming Back

Composer Marco Beltrami is just the latest key creative confirmed to be returning for Scream 7, alongside Kevin Williamson and several cast members. Beltrami was the original composer for the first four Scream movies, three of which were written by Williamson. However, for the 2022 reboot, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett brought on their frequent collaborator, Brian Tyler, who returned as the composer for Scream VI alongside Sven Faulconer. With Williamson, the franchise’s original writer, taking over as director, it makes sense that the original composer would also come back.

Beltrami also provided a progress update, revealing that Scream 7 is currently being edited, and his work writing and scoring the movie hasn’t even begun yet. However, it’s still a positive progress update. Scream 7 started filming in January 2025 and wrapped in March. The movie is currently being edited and is therefore well into the post-production pipeline. In turn, it should be able to make its scheduled release date in February 2026, if not be moved up earlier to December 2025, a month where a few Scream movies have found success.

Our Take On Composer Marco Beltrami Returning For Scream 7

It Will Be Important, But Invisible

With Williamson and several key cast members returning, Scream 7 is clearly trying to rekindle some of the magic from the first few Scream films. Beltrami, whose score can be heard in the first four films, will be crucial to recapturing the atmosphere of the earlier movies, especially considering how important music is in slasher films. However, if done well, like all good film scores, Beltrami’s work in Scream 7 will heighten the tension or suspense of scenes, while going largely unnoticed by audiences.

Scream 7 is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.
