James Gunn Addresses When The Next Superman Movie Trailer Will Release: “You Haven’t Even Seen Trailer 1.0 Yet”

James Gunn gives a new DC Universe update on the next Superman movie trailer and its release. The DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” slate is finally getting ready to take a bigger leap in 2025, starting with Gunn’s Superman movie. But as David Corenswet’s DCU debut on the big screen is getting closer, many are still waiting to see more footage from the Superman film and learn more about its premise.

Today, Gunn shared a new look at Mr. Terrific in the Superman movie to honor the character’s anniversary, and a fan responded to ask, “Trailer 2.5.?” Many have been wondering when the next trailer for the DCU installment will be released. Gunn responded with the following:

James Gunn Shares New Superman Movie Trailer Update

Gunn explained that fans “haven’t even seen trailer 1.0. yet,” reminding everyone that the footage that was released in December 2024 was the Superman teaser trailer. The DC Studios co-CEO also added that the BTS trailer was more of a sneak peek and said, “I can’t wait to show you guys the trailer!”

What James Gunn’s Superman Trailer Update Means For The Movie

While Gunn may not have offered a specific timeframe for when the next Superman movie trailer will be released, it’s crucial to remember that a marketing campaign for a huge Hollywood blockbuster like this DCU film is something that is planned in detail. It’s also worth taking into account that Superman had a big presence at this year’s CinemaCon, which only happened earlier this month. After that, fans did get the Superman BTS trailer, which was unveiled to the world on Superman Day (April 18) and did have a lot of new glimpses from the film.

Given that Superman has roughly three months left until it arrives in theaters, there is still plenty of time for the DCU marketing to kick into high gear, and May will be the perfect time for it, given that it is right before the start of the summer movie season. Based on all the Superman merchandise that has been unveiled in the last few weeks, DC Studios is definitely not slowing down on promoting the movie. From Gunn’s latest update, it wouldn’t be shocking if he is still editing the Superman “1.0” trailer, and may be close to having it finished.

Krypto brings Kal-El to the Fortress of Solitude in the Superman Movie

Based on Gunn’s update about the next Superman trailer, things are clearly moving the way they are supposed to, as he would likely not have even responded to the original question if there were issues. Since the Superman cast has also been doing more promotion for the film, it wouldn’t be shocking if the next trailer is closer than people realize. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait much longer for another look at Gunn’s Superman movie.
