Now You See Me 3 Stars Break Down The New Horsemen’s Personalities & Connection To Magic

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t stars tease their new characters in the franchise’s upcoming installment, which sees Jesse Eisenberg recruiting three new Horsemen for a visual “heist.” In addition to the returning Horsemen, Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Dominic Sessa have joined the franchise to team up with the original Horsemen in the Now You See: Now You Don’t story, which will involve a criminal organization.

In an interview with ScreenRant, the franchise newcomers teased what to expect from the new illusionists. Smith, who plays Charlie in the film, explained that his “baby” Horseman is “shy, behind-the-scenes,” who knows everything about magic and prefers planning to being in the spotlight. Sessa, who plays Bosco, added that his character was like Charlie, but more “energetic,” who became “the face of the group” because he liked attention and was good at magic at the same time. Read their comments below:

Justice Smith: We’re calling ourselves The Foals. Or at least I’m calling us that because they’re baby Horsemen. My character’s name is Charlie. I’m kind of the shy, behind-the-scenes guy. I plan a lot of the tricks, and I make sure everything goes right, but I don’t really enjoy being in the spotlight, even though I’m in such reverence of the Four Horsemen. I know every magic fact there is. That’s kind of what magic means to him; it’s his whole life.

Dominic Sessa: My character’s name is Bosco, and I’m sort of the face of the group, in a sense. I very much like to be front and center, receiving the attention, but I’m really good at magic at the same time. I think my character shares the same reverence for magic and its history as Charlie, although I’m much more energetic about it.

Greenblatt, who plays June, described her character as a protector of the trio due to her unique connection with magic. Check out her comments below:

Ariana Greenblatt: My character’s name is June, and obviously magic is the connecting tissue for this trio. I think we’ve bonded a huge amount with magic. We all have our own little quirks and situations in life, but magic brings us together, and we feel most ourselves while performing these tricks.

My character is the protector of these two; these guys are her family, they’re her life, they’re her everything. Being able to perform magic with her favorite people in the world is what defines June as a person. She’s strong, and she doesn’t take much from other people. And if you try and cross these two, you’re not going to be very happy.

Her specialty is sleight of hand. She’s a pickpocket, and I think my shortness kind of played a role in that, which has never been a factor in any role I’ve done. I’ve always had to hide the fact that I am, as Ruben [Fleischer] likes to say, vertically challenged. But because she’s so small, she’s able to squirm and be a snake and get where she needs to be and do what she needs to do.

What This Means For Now You See Me 3

The Horsemen-In-Training Are A Small But Mighty Group

The three new characters each offer something unique to the table, but at the same time, their area of expertise may overlap with the original Four Horsemen, and part of the intrigue is seeing how different illusionists would approach the same space differently. Dominic Sessa clarified in the same interview that Bosco indeed shares some of the traits Eisenberg’s J. Daniel Atlas possesses, which might create “a bit of a conflict between them.

As teased in the Now You See Me: Now You Don’t trailer, the eight magicians are up against the biggest challenge the series has seen. Unlike illusions and magic tricks, Rosamund Pike’s criminal organization is very real, which means the eight of them will have to work out their differences and coordinate, but in the end, it all comes back to the purity of magic and their shared love for justice.

Our Take On Now You See Me 3’s New Horsemen

The New Horsemen Are Bound To Create Friction And Challenges

There was so much going on in the trailer that the new characters might be a little bit overlooked. However, as the new cast in the franchise pointed out, there’s so much more to the baby Horsemen that fans will come to know in the upcoming Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, which will hit theaters on November 14.

The new trio is a small but highly functional group, with each member being excellent at a very specific area. How they work as a team and how they’ll function as a bigger group alongside the Four Horsemen will be a highlight in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, in which Isla Fisher will also return after her absence in Now You See Me 2.
