Two Mark Wahlberg Action Movies Are Heating Up The Streaming Charts Decades Later

Mark Wahlberg may have had a unique rise to fame in the acting industry, but he has since maintained his stardom sufficiently. He started better known under his rapper name, Marky Mark, and was the leading member of the hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in the early ’90s. He then made his theatrical film debut in Renaissance Man in 1994, but it was not until his role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Booge Nights that Wahlberg’s acting skills became truly recognized.

Wahlberg has taken on a variety of roles since Boogie Nights, but action movies have been a recurring genre in his filmography. Most recently, he played the main villain in Mel Gibson’s Flight Risk, which premiered earlier this year. His other recent films also fall within the action or adventure genre, including The Union, The Family Plan, and Arthur the King. Now, two of Wahlberg’s action films are resurfacing again, finding a new life on the streaming charts.

Shooter & Four Brothers Are Climbing The Charts

Both Are 2000s Action Movies

Both Shooter and Four Brothers are doing well on streaming. Four Brothers is a whodunnit action film directed by John Singleton, telling the story of four adopted brothers who take matters into their own hands when their adoptive mother is murdered during a store robbery. The film grossed $92.3 million on an estimated $45 million budget. Shooter came out two years later and focused more heavily on Wahlberg, featuring him as a marksman who attempts to stop a presidential ᴀssᴀssination. Shooter made slightly more money than Four Brothers, grossing $95.6 million.

Now, both Four Brothers and Shooter are doing well on streaming. According to FlixPatrol, Four Brothers is currently ranked at no. 2 on Paramount+’s top 10 movies in the United States today, April 29. Shooter is in the no. 4 spot. In the case of Four Brothers, this represents an ascent from its previous ranking, where it was in the no. 6 and then no. 4 slots on April 27 and April 28, respectively.

What This Means For Mark Wahlberg

This Trend Highlights The Actor’s Popularity

It is Shooter‘s first day in the top 10 charts in recent memory, and I can only imagine that its success was aided by Four Brothers‘ earlier chart appearance. That is, subscribers who were checking out Four Brothers were likely directed toward other Wahlberg films. It is good news for Wahlberg since it shows audiences are interested in his work. He has multiple movies coming up, including The Family Plan 2 and By Any Means, so this momentum is well-timed.
