Avengers: Doomsday has begun filming, as the first official set pH๏τo confirms Robert Downey Jr. is ready to bring the Doctor Doom of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to life. After Marvel live-streamed the cast reveal of the Avengers movie, it was confirmed that more actors will be part of the film, though it is unknown whether a new event to announce the rest of the cast will happen. For the past month, MCU stars have been spotted arriving in London, where the next Avengers movie will be sH๏τ, and now production has officially begun.
On Instagram, the Russo Brothers, who will direct the MCU’s next two Avengers movies, shared the first set pH๏τo of Avengers: Doomsday to announce that filming has finally started.

This comes after Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed during a Thunderbolts* press conference (via CBR) that Avengers: Doomsday would start filming today, claiming he was excited for actors “who’ve never met before on screen, meeting for the first time and interacting.” While it does not reveal any details from Avengers: Doomsday‘s story, the first set pH๏τo from the movie shows Robert Downey Jr.’s chair with the name Victor von Doom.
What The Avengers: Doomsday Set PH๏τo Means For The MCU Movie
Production On The Anticipated Marvel Movie Has Now Started
Avengers: Doomsday was initially called The Kang Dynasty. The movie was originally meant to be released on May 2, 2025, before Marvel fired Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors and overhauled the movie’s creative direction, pivoting to Doctor Doom. Due to that, all eyes are on how Marvel will be able to introduce Victor von Doom in the same movie where he becomes the main villain of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. With Downey Jr. set to come back to the franchise as Doctor Doom, it also remains to be seen if Iron Man will appear.
The first Avengers: Doomsday set pH๏τo does not confirm anything in that regard, as it is a simple sH๏τ, showing only Victor von Doom written on RDJ’s chair on set. The exciting part about the first Avengers: Doomsday set pH๏τo is that it confirms that the MCU movie has finally begun filming a year before it is set to be released. Production had already been delayed, as it was initially reported to start in March. Now, the Russo Brothers guarantee that the movie is filming, with Downey shooting his first scenes as Doctor Doom, and more set pH๏τos could follow.
Our Take On The Avengers: Doomsday Set PH๏τo
Marvel Studios’ Next Major Event Is Exciting
While the first Avengers: Doomsday set pH๏τo does not show much, it is enough to get me excited for now. After the delays to the film’s shooting start, it is great to see that Marvel has begun filming with enough time to guarantee that the VFX artists will be able to deliver top-notch CGI, as the standard for MCU films is to shoot a year before release. It is fitting that Victor von Doom’s name is the first we see on the film’s set, as Avengers: Doomsday will be all about Doctor Doom, which I can’t wait for.
