Following a successful festival rollout, the critically acclaimed sci-fi comedy Tim Travers & The Time Traveler’s Paradox is releasing in NYC and LA theaters on May 30th before its Digital release on June 24 through Mill Creek Entertainment. As a delightful appetizer to the wacky theatrical meal that awaits, ScreenRant is pleased to present a first look at the trailer for what’s sure to be the next cult classic.
The movie marks the feature directorial debut of Stimson Snead with an ensemble cast consisting of Samuel Dunning, Danny Trejo, Joel McHale, Keith David, and genre icon Felicia Day (who also serves as executive producer). Tim Travers & The Time Traveler’s Paradox follows a whip-smart physicist who seeks to test the Time Traveler’s Paradox by killing his younger self and unmaking reality in the process. Things don’t go as planned, naturally, to hilarious and heartwarming effect. In addition to directing the movie, Stead wrote the screenplay, proving himself a talent to watch in more ways than one.
Check out ScreenRant‘s exclusive first look at the trailer below, but don’t let the tongue-in-cheek tone fool you. Tim Travers & The Time Traveler’s Paradox is, at its core, a tale of self-acceptance told through the lens of science fiction.
Tim Travers & The Time Traveler’s Paradox Offers An Unexpected Community Reunion
Joel McHale & Keith David Come Together In The Same Movie After Community Season 6
The trailer begins with McHale’s podcast host interviewing Dr. Tim Travers (Dunning) about what exactly the time traveler’s paradox is, and a version of it plays out as Travers explains that it refers to a scientist traveling back one minute into the past, killing his younger self, and then somehow still existing against all rules of the universe. Then, Trejo comes in with guns and demands the return of his stolen Plutonium while Day waits for the prank cameras to pop out before freaking out and shooting her own gun.
The chaos only rises as the trailer continues, concluding with Travers surrounded by countless copies of himself and pondering the existence of God at this juncture. But eagle-eyed fans will notice that, though they don’t cross paths in the trailer itself, Tim Travers & The Time Traveler’s Paradox sees both McHale and his Community costar Keith David playing important roles in the movie. Despite the long-awaited Community movie remaining on the horizon in the foreseeable future, actual cast reunions have been few and far between since season 6 wrapped up the show.
Much like that beloved show, though, Snead’s new sci-fi movie is a story about accepting all that you are with glee. In an earlier press release, the writer-director explained his vision as follows: “This is a story about learning to love yourself. That’s a message we have taken to heart alongside the audiences, critics, and festivals who’ve embraced the film.” He added, “It’s such a joy to finally be bringing this story of self-love to a wider audience at last!“
