1 Spider-Man Actor’s New Comments Make Me Want To See Venom In The MCU Even More

New comments from one MCU actor make us hopeful that a new version of Venom could soon debut in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man franchise. The alien Symbiote known as Venom is one of the most iconic Spider-Man-related characters in Marvel Comics history, but the villain-turned-antihero has not yet had a major role in the MCU. With Tom Holland set to return as Peter Parker in 2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the stage is set for a completely new version of Venom to make his mark on the MCU.

Venom was first introduced to Marvel Comics as Spider-Man’s black “Alien Costume” during 1984’s Secret Wars event, though the Symbiote has gone on to become a far more significant and formidable character in the decades since. Tom Hardy portrayed Eddie Brock, the host of Venom, in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, but the iconic character’s future in live-action hasn’t yet been confirmed. Marvel Studios now has the perfect opportunity to make Venom a key part of the MCU’s upcoming Spider-Man stories, and to give one Spider-Man franchise character more meaning than he’s ever had before.

Tony Revolori Wants Flash Thompson To Become Agent Venom In The MCU

Flash Thompson Became Agent Venom In Marvel Comics In 2011’s The Amazing Spider-Man #654

Tony Revolori first appeared as Flash Thompson, Peter Parker’s bully and the popular kid at Midtown School of Science and Technology, in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. He returned in Far From Home and No Way Home, with him softening with each new project, but Flash has never been given all too much focus in the MCU. Now, however, Tony Revolori has voiced his hopes to return to the MCU, but not just as Flash Thompson, rather also as Agent Venom (via The Direct), a version of the character bonded with the Venom Symbiote.

Yeah, you know, look, I’ve read the comics that everyone’s read. I would be really, really f***ing excited to [become Agent Venom]. That would be really cool. I have no idea what or if or when or maybe, and we’ll see. Look, the hope is to do it, the dream is to do it. And we’ll see if it ever happens. And if it doesn’t, they’re making great s**t regardless that I will watch over and over and over again, and I’m just happy to have been a part of it.

Tony Revolori hasn’t yet been confirmed to be returning as Flash Thompson in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but it’s possible that the 2026 sequel or future Spider-Man movies could see him bond with Venom. Venom bonded with Flash after he lost both his legs during the Iraq War, and this symbiosis transforms both characters into a powerful superhero that Flash can control via drug use. While Agent Venom could be a few years off, Marvel Studios has already laid the foundations for this version of the iconic villain-turned-hero to debut in the MCU.

Marvel Studios Has Already Set Up Venom’s Official MCU Debut

Venom Made His MCU Debut In Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Mid-Credits Scene

Eddie Brock in Mexico in Spider-Man No Way Home

While the Venom Symbiote hasn’t actually made a full appearance in the MCU just yet, Spider-Man: No Way Home’s mid-credits scene set up the perfect way for the alien villain to be explored in more detail. Doctor Strange’s original botched spell in No Way Home brought villains from alternate realities to Earth-616, including those from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man duology. Although he wasn’t featured in the main story of No Way Home, this also included Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock, the host of Venom, from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.

Eddie Brock was sent back when Doctor Strange made everyone forget Peter Parker, with his appearance in the MCU never being explained. However, while Brock returned home, a piece of Venom was left in the Mexican bar. This piece of Venom may have spent the last four years growing in power, perhaps allowing it to bond to a human host and become a full version of Venom. The fact that this Venom comes from just a small piece of the original would explain any differences, and there are a number of characters who could make perfect hosts.

Venom Will Need New Hosts After Bonding With Peter Parker’s Spider-Man

Peter Parker Is Not Venom’s Only Host In Marvel Comics

Of course, the most likely candidate to become the host of Venom, and perhaps the character that we want to see bond with the Symbiote the most, is Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Spider-Man first found his black costume in 1984’s Secret Wars event, and realized that it was an alien Symbiote after bringing it back to New York City in Marvel Comics. With Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon, there is speculation this could explore Spider-Man’s bonding with Venom, but the Symbiote has many other candidates for hosts in the MCU, based on his Marvel Comics history.

Peter Parker’s Spider-Man was Venom’s first host in Marvel Comics, but after the wall-crawler renounced the Symbiote, Venom instead jumped to journalist Eddie Brock. Brock is perhaps Venom’s most notable host, which made his adaptation into live-action in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe exciting, despite there being some criticisms. Venom later went on to bond with Mac Gargan between 2005 and 2009, Flash Thompson between 2011 and 2016, Dylan Brock in 2021 and Mary Jane Watson in 2025, so the powerful character has many options when considering his future in the MCU.

Flash Becoming Agent Venom Is The Perfect Future For The Jokey Spider-Man Character

Marvel Studios Has Made Flash Thompson A Bit Of A Joke

Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson in Spider-Man Homecoming

It would be great to see Peter Parker bond with Venom but, after that, Eddie Brock should be ignored, given his prominence in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Instead, Flash Thompson would be the perfect next host for the Venom Symbiote, especially since this could solve some of the biggest mistakes Marvel Studios has made with the character in the MCU. Tony Revolori is a comedian, so it makes sense that Flash Thompson was given more jokey, comic qualities, but it would be great to see some of his more serious tones explored, and bonding him with Venom is the perfect opportunity.

Flash Thompson has appeared in all three of Tom Holland’s solo Spider-Man movies in the MCU, so it would be great to see him return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day or beyond, even though Marvel Studios hasn’t yet confirmed his casting.

Spider-Man: Far From Home teased a troubled upbringing and personal life for Flash Thompson, while Spider-Man: No Way Home saw him go to extreme lengths to feign friendship with Peter Parker, MJ and Ned Leeds, perhaps not having any other true friends. It’s not hard to imagine Flash joining the military to find family and belonging, which could easily set up his future as Agent Venom. Introducing Venom into Flash Thompson’s timeline in the MCU would be a fantastic way to make him a more serious, mature character, which would be great for the character and for Tony Revolori.
