Forget Chicken Jockey, A Minecraft Movie Had An Even Cooler Mob Team-Up

There’s a way cooler mob team-up than the chicken jockey in A Minecraft Movie, but it unfortunately has not gone viral. A Minecraft Movie quickly introduces audiences to the Overworld, a dimension that is made up of blocks and is filled with many strange creatures. Out of all these creatures, the chicken jockey in A Minecraft Movie completely steals the show. Seeing a baby zombie ride a chicken has led to outrageous reactions from audiences in theaters, which have created several viral clips. However, aside from the chicken jockey, there are many other notable mobs in A Minecraft Movie.

Reviews for A Minecraft Movie have been mixed, with Screen Rant’s own Mae Abdulbaki giving it a score of 4 out of 10. However, it is hard to deny that the film, which has been in development since 2014, includes many fun moments. These moments have led to many viral clips, which have helped A Minecraft Movie become a box office success. As of this writing, the film has made $726 million at the box office (via Box Office Mojo). However, given how popular the film is, not enough people are talking about the spider jockey in A Minecraft Movie.

A Minecraft Movie Includes A Spider Jockey Long Before The Chicken Jockey Scene

Garrett Is Chased By A Spider Jockey In A Minecraft Movie

Garrett fighting the chicken jockey is undoubtedly the most viral scene in A Minecraft Movie. Jason Momoa gets to prove how good he is at physical comedy while fighting the chicken jockey in the Woodland Mansion. However, before this happens, he encounters a spider jockey. When it first turns to night in A Minecraft Movie, Garrett, Henry, Natalie, and Dawn prepare to fight the creatures that are going to hunt them. However, since they have not yet met Steve, they are not at all prepared.

Therefore, when several skeletons start to attack them, all the characters immediately freak out and run away. Henry, Natalie, and Dawn stay together, but Garrett runs in a different direction, separating himself from the group. Unlucky for Garrett, the spider jockey chooses to follow him. The spider jockey, which is a skeleton riding on a spider, is definitely one of the creepiest mobs in A Minecraft Movie. Additionally, the spider jockey is way more dangerous than the chicken jockey is in the film.

A Minecraft Movie’s Spider Jockey Is Great Because Of Their Game Rarity

Spider Jockeys Are More Rare Than Chicken Jockeys In Minecraft

In addition to being both scarier and more powerful, the spider jockey is also more rare than the chicken jockey in Minecraft. In the video game, there’s only a 1% chance that a spider will spawn with a skeleton jockey on its back. In comparison, there is a 5% chance of a chicken jockey spawning in Minecraft. Therefore, even though Garrett’s encounter with a spider jockey is not a standout moment in A Minecraft Movie, like his fight with the chicken jockey is, it is actually much more unique.

The spider jockey in A Minecraft Movie also has an enchanted bow, which makes it an even more ᴅᴇᴀᴅly enemy.

Because of this statistic, the spider jockey scene is actually one of the most overlooked moments in A Minecraft Movie. While regular skeletons are also dangerous, seeing this spider jockey makes nighttime in A Minecraft Movie so much scarier. Additionally, the spider jockey in A Minecraft Movie also has an enchanted bow, which makes it an even more ᴅᴇᴀᴅly enemy. Because of its rarity, it is amazing that a spider jockey is included so early in A Minecraft Movie. Thankfully, Garrett gets away from the spider jockey and he and the rest of the characters survive the night.

A Minecraft Movie’s Spider Jockey Scene Hasn’t Gone Viral

Even though the spider jockey is one of the creepiest mobs in A Minecraft Movie, and is part of a thrilling chase scene early in the film, it has not resonated as much with audiences. This is a shame, since a spider jockey is actually way more rare than a chicken jockey. However, it is understandable, since the chicken jockey fight in A Minecraft Movie is a lot funnier. The spider jockey chase scene plays more like a horror movie, whereas the chicken jockey scene is designed to make audiences laugh out loud.

The chicken jockey scene is also much more popular because of Jack Black’s inclusion. By the time Garrett encounters the chicken jockey, he and the other characters have become acquainted with Steve, who is hilariously portrayed by Black. Many scenes from A Minecraft Movie have gone viral, and most of them feature Steve. Steve introducing himself, him singing “Steve’s Lava Chicken Song,” and, of course, him introducing the chicken jockey are three of the most viral scenes in A Minecraft Movie.

The scenes that have gone the most viral from A Minecraft Movie prove how much audiences love Black. If Black’s Steve is involved in a scene, it will most likely be hilarious. Therefore, even though the spider jockey chase scene is great, the fact that it does not include Steve is likely one of the main reasons why it has not gone as viral as the chicken jockey fight. Audiences love quoting Steve’s lines in A Minecraft Movie, but that is unfortunately not possible during the spider jockey chase scene.

Future Minecraft Movies Can Make Spider Jockey A Bigger Deal

A Spider Jockey Could Appear In A Minecraft Movie 2

Since the spider jockey scene doesn’t include a memorable quote, it is not as popular as the chicken jockey fight and other moments from A Minecraft Movie. This is a shame, since it is actually quite rare to see a spider jockey in the video game. However, future Minecraft movies could redeem this moment and include another spider jockey. Even though a sequel to A Minecraft Movie has not been officially announced, it will likely happen. Given how successful A Minecraft Movie has been, I would be shocked if a sequel does not get greenlit soon.

More than likely, several more Minecraft movies will be made in the coming years. Therefore, perhaps Garrett and other characters could encounter a spider jockey again in a future Minecraft movie. If this does happen, it would be amazing if Steve is part of the scene so that Black can deliver a hilarious and memorable line. Seeing a spider jockey in A Minecraft Movie was amazing, but I am hoping that it is not the last time we will see one in the budding franchise.
