Now You See Me 3 Report Reveals At Least 1 New Location For Long-Awaited Sequel

A major location from Now You See Me: Now You Don’t has been revealed. The upcoming movie, which was directed by Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer, is the third installment in the stage magic-based heist franchise. The upcoming Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is set to feature the return of Jesse Eisenberg as Danny Atlas, Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney, Dave Franco as Jack Wilder, Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves, Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes, and Morgan Freeman as Thaddeus Bradley, alongside new characters played by Rosamund Pike, Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Dominic Sessa.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Lionsgate has revealed that part of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was sH๏τ over the course of 13 days in Abu Dhabi, which is the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Locations that were featured in the shoot include the Liwa desert, Sheikh Zayed Bridge, and Louvre Abu Dhabi, as well as the CLYMB, the marina, and Ferrari World on Yas Island. Below, read comments on the production from Lionsgate Motion Picture Group President, Physical Production Matt Leonetti and Creative Media Authority’s Acting General Director Mohamed Dobay:

Matt Leonetti: The Now You See Me films have always taken audiences on global adventures, and this film is no exception. Abu Dhabi’s iconic locations and incredible people will be part of what makes this film so enjoyable and memorable for worldwide audiences.

Mohamed Dobay: The Lionsgate team benefited not only from Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s financial rebate offering, but also from the support of our key partners, Miral Destinations, facilitating key filming and the expertise of our local crew, led by Epic Films.

What This Means For Now You See Me 3

The Franchise Will Continue To Trot The Globe

At the time of writing, the full extent of how many scenes from the Woody Harrelson movie are set in Abu Dhabi remains unknown, though the fact that the production sH๏τ there for less than two weeks indicates that the scenes in the Emirates will likely not take up the majority of the movie. However, it is possible that they used soundstages to recreate other Abu Dhabi locations while shooting elsewhere, so further insight may have to wait until more is revealed as the movie’s promotional campaign ramps up.

Regardless of Abu Dhabi’s prominence, its presence confirms that the Now You See Me franchise will continue to embrace its globetrotting nature. While the first movie primarily followed the group of magical outlaws known as the Four Horsemen to various United States locales such as New York City, Las Vegas, and New Orleans, the sequel brought them to Macau and London. The anticipated 2025 movie seems set to continue that trend in a major way, given this location update.

The Movie Takes A Broad View Of Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has become an increasingly popular location for Hollywood productions over the past decade and a half, appearing in movies as varied as Dune, Sonic the Hedgehog, and the upcoming F1. It was also the setting for 2011’s Sєx and the City 2, though Morocco doubled for Abu Dhabi. However, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t seems to be embracing a wide variety of Abu Dhabi locations, presenting a broad view in an approach that will likely still make its use of the location feel fresh and exciting.
