Sam Raimi’s New Horror Movie Gets An Exciting Production Update In New BTS PH๏τo

Sam Raimi’s new horror movie, Send Help, receives an exciting production update in a new behind-the-scenes pH๏τo. Directed by Raimi and written by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, the duo known for Freddy vs. Jason and the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot, the upcoming survival horror film follows a woman and her boss who struggle to stay alive on a remote island after a plane crash. The movie stars the Oscar-nominated Rachel McAdams alongside Chris Pang, Dylan O’Brien, and Dennis Haysbert.

Now, Raimi’s upcoming horror film has received an exciting production update. On Instagram, producer Zainab Azizi shared a behind-the-scenes pH๏τo announcing that Send Help has wrapped filming. The pH๏τo shows the film’s clapperboard perched upon a rock overlooking a beach. Check out the full post below:

What Send Help’s Filming Wrap Means For The Movie

Will It Move Up Its Release Date?

Send Help started filming this past February in multiple locations – Sydney, Los Angeles, and Thailand – and wrapped filming three months later on April 17, which, as a horror film, is a relatively shorter shoot compared to Sam Raimi’s other movies, including his two recent tentpoles, Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful and Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In turn, Send Help will have plenty of time to meet its previously scheduled release date of January 30, 2026.

However, January is generally a busy time for horror movies, and next year is already crowded with several releases, including the M3GAN spinoff SOULM8TE and the second installment in the 28 Years Later trilogy, subтιтled The Bone Temple. With Send Help having wrapped filming eight months ahead of its scheduled release date, it’s possible the movie could move up to avoid this overly crowded window. Send Help shouldn’t require that long of a post-production window, so it could probably be ready to release by August.

Our Take On Send Help’s Filming Wrap

It’s An Exciting Update For Sam Raimi

Send Help‘s filming wrap is not only an important production update, but it’s also exciting to see Sam Raimi returning to horror for the first time since 2009’s Drag Me to Hell. However, Send Help is unlike any horror film Raimi has helmed before, since it’s also very much a survival movie about characters stranded on an island, and has been described as a cross between Misery and Castaway. Send Help is a unique project for Raimi, and with it having already wrapped filming, hopefully audiences can see it sooner rather than later.
