I Am Legend 2 Poster Art Imagines Michael B. Jordan’s New Character Alongside Will Smith

Michael B. Jordan and Will Smith unite in an impressive fan-made I Am Legend 2

poster. Released in 2007, the first I Am Legend, which is based on the novel of the same name by Richard Matheson, followed Smith’s Robert Neville, the last survivor in New York City after the world falls to a vampire apocalypse. The film was a hit, and it was confirmed in 2022 that a sequel was in the works from original screenwriter Akiva Goldsman. Later, Smith shared an I Am Legend 2 cast update, revealing that Michael B. Jordan is being eyed to costar.

Now, artist diamondᴅᴇᴀᴅ on Instagram shares their take on an I Am Legend 2 poster and what Jordan’s character could look like in the film. The poster features Jordan taking center stage above an abandoned cityscape. with Smith’s character behind him and an angry Darkseeker looking over them both. The artist even includes a compelling tagline for the sequel with “The fight for a new dawn has begun,” a reference to the Darkseekers’ inability to go outside during the daytime. What This Means For I Am Legend 2

How Michael B. Jordan Fits Into The Sequel

I Am Legend 2 is seemingly still in the script stage of development. It should be noted that the movie doesn’t yet have an official green light or an expected production timeline, with both Smith and Jordan maintaining busy schedules. While Smith had a hit with Bad Boys: Ride or Die last year, Jordan stars in the critically-acclaimed Sinners, with both of these films boding well for I Am Legend 2. How accurate the above poster will be to the sequel, though, is hard to judge at this early stage.

Some information has been revealed about I Am Legend 2, however. It has been confirmed, for example, that the sequel is taking the alternate I Am Legend ending, the one in which Neville survives the ᴀssault on his home by the Darkseekers, as canon. Smith also just recently revealed on REVOLT’s Drink Champs podcast that Jordan will not be playing his son, as has been theorized, with the Sinners star instead set to play the leader of a new settlement in Connecticut.

Francis Lawrence directed the first I Am Legend, but it remains unclear whether he will return for the sequel.

Our Take On The I Am Legend 2 Poster Art

It Teases The Return Of One Crucial Element

Will Smith as Dr. Robert Neville with his dog in a car in I Am Legend

One of the most appealing aspects of the original I Am Legend was its setting. There had certainly been plenty of post-apocalyptic movies prior to 2007, but the film’s rendition of an abandoned New York City, with Neville shown driving a Mustang through the overgrown city streets, was a major highlight. As is teased in the poster art above, this particular take on a post-apocalyptic Earth will hopefully be returning.

What is also interesting is the poster’s tagline. Neville – and humanity in general – is on the back foot in the original I Am Legend, but it ends with him discovering a cure. This cure and the attempts to inoculate the large population of Darkseekers could make for an interesting premise for the sequel, even if it does go against some themes of the original novel. Many questions remain about I Am Legend 2, but the poster art is sure to only increase anticipation fot the project.
