Last week, at Star Wars Celebration, Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter was announced as Lucasfilm’s next film in production. During the announcement, Levy confirmed the casting of Ryan Gosling as a still unnamed main character. Based on several clues, it’s believed that Gosling’s character will be some kind of Force-sensitive pilot, though it’s unclear if he will be a Jedi.

While details are slim, Shawn Levy did confirm that Starfighter will be a standalone film and will feature a brand-new cast of characters. This, paired with Gosling’s star power, could make for one of the best and most inventive stories told in Star Wars in quite a while. Starfighter goes into production this fall, which means we’ll likely learn more about the cast and plot within the coming months. While Ryan Gosling is currently the only known cast member, I know the perfect person to join Shawn Levy’s upcoming film.

The Pair Worked Together Previously

Starfighter would be the perfect place for Shawn Levy to reunite with actor Walker Scobell. The pair previously worked together on Scobell’s debut film, 2022’s The Adam Project. In the film, Scobell shows he’s capable of going toe-to-toe with big-name actors like Ryan Reynolds, Zoe Saldaña, and Mark Ruffalo. Bringing the 16-year-old on board for Starfighter would be the perfect place to see the reunion between Levy and Scobell.

Scobell currently stars as the тιтular Percy Jackson in the Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Percy Jackson has already been renewed for season 3 ahead of season 2’s release. However, it’s unclear when Percy Jackson season 3 will begin production. If not busy filming Percy Jackson, Scobell should be an easy enough get for Levy in Starfighter.

During the release of Percy Jackson season 1, behind-the-scenes clips of Scobell were released on social media, one of which featured Scobell excitedly talking about Star Wars. In the post, Scobell stated that he’d always wanted to be in a lightsaber duel, and considering the necessary sword work in Percy Jackson, Scobell would be a perfect fit for Star Wars. Based on Scobell’s knowledge and interest in Star Wars, reuniting with Shawn Levy might be the best way to get his foot in the door with Lucasfilm.

Scobell clearly has a bright future ahead of him with a wonderful performance in Percy Jackson. Additionally, his connections with Hollywood directors like Shawn Levy and A-list actors like Ryan Reynolds can help him meet the right people, where landing a role in a franchise like Star Wars is possible. Scobell’s spunk and obvious love for acting and doing action sequences make him the perfect person to appear in an upcoming Star Wars movie, and working with a director like Levy, who is already familiar with him, is just an added bonus.

I Can See The Resemblance

In The Adam Project, Scobell portrayed a younger version of Ryan Reynolds’ character, and while his performance was great, he never really looked like the ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool actor. However, if Scobell’s hair is styled right, he has the potential to look a lot like Ryan Gosling and could even play a younger version of his character. While it may not be the starring role we’d love to see him in, playing a teenage version of Ryan Gosling’s Starfighter character would still be great.

If the Starfighter script doesn’t call for a younger version of Gosling’s character, there is always the possibility for Scobell to play someone related to Gosling. Whether that be a sibling or child, it almost seems like a missed opportunity not to put Gosling and Scobell onscreen together. With how eager Scobell seems to be included in Star Wars, this seems like the perfect moment to bring him into a galaxy far, far away.

While Walker Scobell may be busy with his schedule on Percy Jackson, it’s still possible for him to make room to appear in Starfighter. Though we are still awaiting more casting announcements, as well as character names and descriptions, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Shawn Levy bring in an actor he already knows and enjoys working with, like Scobell. We’re sure to find out more in the coming months, but for now, here’s hoping we get to see Walker Scobell make his Star Wars debut in Starfighter.
