Heads of State Trailer: John Cena & Idris Elba Are Two World Leaders Fighting For Their Lives In A Wide Conspiracy

The latest trailer for Heads of State reveals the first look at John Cena and Idris Elba as world leaders in Prime Video’s action-packed movie. The upcoming action film is directed by Ilya Naishuller and features an ensemble cast of Jack Quaid, Paddy Considine, Elba, Cena, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The movie is co-written by Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, and Harrison Query and is produced by John Rickard and Peter Safran with executive producers including Cena, Elba, Nemec, and Marcus Viscidi.

Now, Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for Heads of State. The trailer opens with a meeting between the President of the United States (Cena) and the UK Prime Minister (Elba). The president, Will Derringer, is a former Hollywood star who has a very different style from Prime Minster Sam Clarke. As the duo are trying to smooth their rivalry, someone attacks the private jet they are riding. This sends Derringer and Clarke on an action-packed adventure, as they face a huge security breech. The film is set for release on July 2.

What This Means For Heads Of State

The Film Will Be Action-Packed

In addition, Prime Video provided a complete synopsis of Heads of State. The description clarified some characters introduced in the trailer, including Chopra Jonas’ Noel Bisset, who is an MI6 agent. The trailer reveals some of the action scenes involving Noel, one of which requires the character to slide under a car. In addition to those listed in the description, the trailer also shows Quaid’s role, seemingly helping the world leaders escape their situation. Check out the full description below:

In the action-comedy Heads of State, the UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba) and U.S. President Will Derringer (John Cena) have a not-so-friendly and very public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries’ “special relationship.” But when they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary—who proves more than a match for the two leaders’ security forces—they are begrudgingly forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other. Ultimately allied with the brilliant MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), they must go on the run and find a way to work together long enough to thwart a global conspiracy that threatens the entire free world. The film also stars Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid and Sarah Niles and is directed by Ilya Naishuller.

The Heads of State trailer promises that the film will be incredibly action-packed. The Prime Video movie will also be a reunion between Cena and Elba after starring together in 2021’s Suicide Squad. Both actors have also appeared in the Fast & Furious franchise, although they never shared the screen. Nevertheless, the trailer showcases the comedic chemistry between the two stars, who have a rich history in action franchises and comedies. Also, with the movie focused on political leaders, its release perfectly overlaps with the Fourth of July week.

Our Take On The Heads Of State Trailer

The Movie Chose A Good Cast

John Cena in Heads of State

Heads of State is already looking exciting thanks to its incredible ensemble cast. Between Prime Video’s The Boys and Novocaine, Quaid has proved himself a strong actor in the action-comedy subgenre. Cena is also well-versed in the comedy space, and Elba is a multi-genre actor. This gives the cast a wide skill set, which they can easily bring to Heads of State upon its release to streaming early this summer.
