Conclave Gets A New Streaming Home Tonight

Conclave will receive a new streaming home very soon. The acclaimed 2024 movie depicts the process of choosing a new pope, dramatizing the events while adapting Robert Harris’ novel of the same name. Ralph Fiennes leads the Conclave cast as Cardinal Lawrence, the man tasked with leading the eponymous ᴀssembly. At the 2025 Oscars, the movie won one single award while being nominated for eight in total.

Now, Conclave is switching streaming homes. After initially being available on Peacock, the movie will shift to Prime Video starting Tuesday, April 22. It will officially hit the service at 12am PT. Interest in Conclave has seen an uptick online, as Pope Francis pᴀssed away on April 21. However, the movie was already slated to switch to Prime Video, though it was initially scheduled to arrive on April 13.

Did You Know: Both director Edward Berger and screenwriter Peter Straughan met with real life cardinals to discuss the actual conclave process.

Why You Should Watch Conclave On Prime Video

Conclave Is An Expertly Crafted Drama

With Conclave, Berger takes viewers behind the scenes of one of society’s most closely guarded rituals: the selection of a new pope. Few know exactly what goes on behind the closed doors when the cardinals meet, and Berger, building upon Harris’ novel, gives the religious decision a sharp political edge. Though the process as depicted by Conclave is far more dramatic — and potentially even considered blasphemous by some — it has increased interest in the topic.

The Conclave ending in particular saw considerable chatter when the movie was released in fall 2024. With its stellar cast — which also includes Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabelle Rossellini — and carefully constructed visuals, Berger’s film stood out as one of the strongest тιтles of last year. Now that another real life conclave is set to take place following Pope Francis’ pᴀssing, it seems the movie will again step into the spotlight. It will also no doubt lead to a continued discussion over how accurate Conclave‘s plot is, making it the perfect time to catch it on streaming.

What ScreenRant has said about Conclave:

Conclave is not trying to be some treatise on the state of the Catholic Church, nor is it saying anything new about modern religion. It’s engrossing nonetheless, and it milks the тιтular event for every dramatic drop its worth. Watching actors like Lithgow, Fiennes, and Tucci chew scenery in some of the oldest buildings in the world is like a drug for anyone that loves character actors. – Conclave Review: Catty Cardinals Choose The New Pope In Riveting & Excellently Shocking Drama
