A Minecraft Movie May Have Already Revealed The Sequel’s Main Villain Thanks To A Big Game Change

Warning! Spoilers ahead for A Minecraft Movie.A Minecraft Movie just came out recently, but it is already one of the biggest movies of the year, making a sequel likely with a potential villain following a game change. While A Minecraft Movie‘s critical reviews were mostly mediocre, the film was clearly a huge hit with audiences, leaving many people hoping for more from this universe, and with the box office numbers A Minecraft Movie is putting up, the announcement of a sequel or continuation is certain to be imminent.

When a sequel does get announced, the first question is obviously going to be what the focus of the story will be about, as A Minecraft Movie‘s ending pretty much closed the book on the piglin threat. There are plenty of hints strewn throughout the movie as to what the sequel will be about, with the biggest nod happening during one of A Minecraft Movie‘s post-credits scenes, where Alex, Steve’s counterpart, was teased. However, one video game change may have secretly revealed the main villain of whatever movie comes next.

A Minecraft Movie’s Endermen Have A New Ability Not From The Game

A Minecraft Movie Has Expanded The Creatures’ Skillset

While the majority of A Minecraft Movie‘s story was focused on the piglins as villains, there were a number of scenes that focused on a group of Illagers in a woodland mansion, as well as an Enderman that Henry had to face alone. The Enderman was very similar to the video game version of the creature, including the same rule of not looking it in the eye, but when Henry does accidentally look in its eyes, the Enderman does something very different than it would in the game.

In the video game, when you look at an Enderman, it will just move to teleport towards you and attack. However, in A Minecraft Movie, when Henry, one of the main characters, looked into the Enderman’s eyes, it showed him a vision of his friends turning against him. The moment tied into the movie’s themes of self-worth and creativity, as Henry was able to push past the bad thoughts that the Enderman generated and kill it, but it was also a notable expansion of the Enderman’s powers.

The Endermen’s New Ability Hints At An Expanded Role For Them

The Endermen Could Very Well Play A Bigger Role In The Sequel

Only one Enderman appeared in A Minecraft Movie, mostly as a simple reference to the game, and it was really only a means to an end in order to help defeat the main villains of the film. However, the new power that they were given showed that the director and writers were interested in expanding the lore of the game, and the fact they used an Enderman in particular to do so was very telling. They are some of the most interesting creatures in the game, and could easily end up with a bigger role in a sequel.

With their expanded abilities in the film, it makes sense that they [Endermen] will play a much bigger role in the next movie.

In the game, the Endermen have an entire dimension where they originate from, which is the place that leads to the ending of Minecraft, causing them to be one of the most important mobs in the game. With their expanded abilities in the film, it makes sense that they will play a much bigger role in the next movie, having their lore expanded upon even further, which would potentially lead to them becoming one of the main threats in the franchise as a whole.

The Ender Dragon Could Be The Villain Of The Next Minecraft Movie

If the Endermen are indeed going to play a bigger role in the series, then it would only make sense for the Ender Dragon to be the ultimate final boss of the next movie, as that creature is the final boss of the game as well. A Minecraft Movie teased Alex as another hero to help the main characters on their continuing journeys, a much more threatening foe to emerge is likely, which is a role the Ender Dragon would be great for.

While no sequel for A Minecraft Movie has been officially announced, it has been reported that a sequel is in early development, and the studio will undoubtedly want to cash in on the first movie’s success.

Even if the Dragon isn’t going to be the villain of the next movie, as there are plenty of other directions to go with the franchise, it will undoubtedly show up at some point down the line. With how much money A Minecraft Movie has made, there will certainly be many more projects in the series, and, as the Ender Dragon is one of the most important aspects of the video game, it will become a factor at some point, even if that is a few movies down the line.
