The Predator Will Finally Use Its Ultimate Weapon That All Other Movies Forgot About

There are a lot of things to look forward to in Predator: Killer of Killers, but the unsung hero of the movie is one weapon the Yautja rarely use. Out of all Predator movies released, Predator: Killer of Killers may be among the most unique. The first anthology movie of the franchise, Predator: Killer of Killers’ trailer showcases visits to locations and timeframes never seen before across any other movie.

Naturally, this could present issues. The timeline of the Predator movies already establishes a rather expansive lore, and it only becomes harder to maintain the canon when considering extraneous media such as comics and video games. Predator: Killer of Killers will have to maintain the lore while also establishing generations of new stories, which is an impressive feat if the movie does it well. But with everything the film needs to accomplish, it’s already promised to expand the franchise’s lore in one very particular way.

Predator: Killer Of Killers Will Finally Give Us Air-To-Air Combat

The WWII Sequence Will Deliver Something Rarely Seen Before

The best part of Prey was that it showcased how the franchise could expand into different timelines. Predator: Killer of Killers promises to make exceptional use of that premise by peering into the Yautjas’ exploits on our planet across several generations. One of the biggest reveals, however, has been that the movie’s WWII sequence will include an aerial combat scene between a Predator and human pilots. Although the Predators’ ships appear frequently, no movie has included a scene like this before.

ᴀssuming the scene extends beyond the trailer, what little we’ve seen thus far is already incredibly promising. Hulu’s first-look trailer shows a Predator uncloaking in front of enemy aircraft, presumably to create a fair fight. The Predator then targets an enemy plane and fires a harpoon that shoots through the aircraft and pulls the pilot out of it, showcasing a tech never before seen in Predator lore. We may not have gotten Prey 2 yet, but the Predator: Killer of Killers trailer shows that Prey director Dan Trachtenberg clearly isn’t resting on his laurels.

I Can Only Imagine How Powerful The Predator Ship Is In Combat

Other Media Has Made Their Firepower Out To Be Devastating

WWII pilot's death in Predator: Killer of Killers

With two Predator movies releasing in 2025, we can hope for quite a bit of world building. In film, the Predator movies have only used the ships offensively by featuring what were technically defense mechanisms. The Predator weaponized its ship’s shields. Predators weaponized the ship’s self-destruct mechanic, something that had already been done with a lot more impact in the 1991 comic Predator: Big Game. Other media hasn’t fared much better. Aerial combat generally only features in the comic books, but it typically shows that the ships’ guns are nothing to trifle with.

Aerial combat in comics like Predator: Bad Blood and Batman Versus Predator shows the Yautja can take out even their own ships with little effort. JLA Versus Predator technically featured similar combat, but it doesn’t count because that was a Predator turning into a ship himself by usurping Plastic Man’s powers (and acquiring the ability to grow guns for some reason). Predator: Killers of Killers will give us our first real look at aerial combat between Predators and humans. Based on what little we’ve seen, any human that can take that ship down absolutely deserves to be called a hero.
