Once-Frequent Keira Knightley Collaborator Hasn’t Ruled Out A Fourth Project With Her 13 Years After Anna Karenina

A once-frequent Keira Knightley collaborator hasn’t ruled out a fourth project with her 13 years after Anna Karenina. The English actress is best known for her performances in blockbusters, playing Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and period dramas, playing Elizabeth Bennet in 2005’s Pride & Prejudice, for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. From there, she starred in several more period dramas, including Atonement, The Duchess, A Dangerous Method, Anna Karenina, and The Imitation Game, the last of which earned her a second Oscar nod.

During an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, the once-frequent Keira Knightley collaborator, Joe Wright, was asked if he would work with the actress again after directing her on Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, and Anna Karenina. Though they have “nothing planned,” Wright says he “was talking to her the other week” and hopes they can collaborate sometime in the future. Read his full response below:

Yeah, I hope so. I was talking to her the other week. We have nothing planned, but she’s a dear friend, and who knows where life will lead us.

Focus Features is re-releasing Pride & Prejudice in theaters for its 20th anniversary beginning on April 20.

What Joe Wright’s Comments Mean For A Fourth Project With Keira Knightley

Their Collaborations Have Been Fruitful

Keira Knightley and Joe Wright’s three collaborations have been quite fruitful, so it’s no surprise that they frequently talk to each other and are interested in working together again. They first collaborated on 2005’s Pride & Prejudice, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and still stands as one of Knightley’s best performances of her career, perfectly capturing the wit and beauty of Elizabeth Bennet. The Jane Austen adaptation was also a big box office success, making over $120 million against its $28 million budget.

In 2007, Knightley and Wright reunited for another period drama, Atonement, based on the 2001 novel by Ian McEwan. It, too, was a critical and commercial success that made over $130 million at the box office on a $30 million budget and received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. Their third and most recent collaboration was the 2012 period drama, Anna Karenina, based on the 1878 novel by Leo Tolstoy, which once again saw Knightley receive rave reviews for her performance.

Our Take On Keira Knightley & Joe Wright Collaborating Again

It Would Mark A Return To Form

In recent years, Keira Knightley has been confined to streaming projects, including Hulu’s Boston Strangler, the Netflix series Black Doves, and the upcoming Netflix film The Woman in Cabin 10. Wright, too, directed the Netflix film, The Woman in the Window. In turn, it would be interesting to see Knightley and Wright collaborate again and have a chance at making some noise at the box office and earning more Oscar nods. Wright does have a period drama in development about a poor farmer during the early 1900s, and Keira Knightley could make an interesting co-star for that project.
