An up-and-coming star has joined the cast of Reminders of Him. The movie, which is set to debut on February 13, 2026, is an adaptation of the Colleen Hoover book of the same name, following a young mother named Kenna Rowan (Maika Monroe) who returns home from prison and attempts to reunite with her 4-year-old daughter, forging a connection with bar owner Ledger Ward (Tyriq Withers) in the process. The movie will be directed by Vanessa Caswill from a screenplay by Hoover and Lauren Levine.
Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Reminders of Him has added Rudy Pankow to the cast. Pankow is best known for starring in the first four seasons of the hit Netflix teen drama Outer Banks as JJ Maybank, the best friend of Chase Stokes’ John B. and love interest for Madison Bailey’s Kiara Carrera. The character he will be playing in the Colleen Hoover movie is unknown at the time of writing. However, the character that he may be playing is Scotty Landry, the late father of Kenna’s daughter, who is close to Pankow’s age at the time he dies in the story.

Reminders Of Him Is A Solid Opportunity
Rudy Pankow has taken on a number of notable roles since he joined the Outer Banks cast, including starring opposite Thomas Haden Church in the 2023 dramedy Accidental Texan and playing the younger version of Nathan Drake’s (Tom Holland) long-lost brother Sam in the 2022 video game adaptation Uncharted. However, Reminders of Him will be providing him with one of his most prominent roles in a feature film yet.
Outer Banks premiered on Netflix in 2020.
This will provide him with a major opportunity to showcase his acting range, which is especially key because he is not currently set to return for the upcoming Outer Banks season 5, which will be the show’s final season. In addition to potentially allowing him to play a more adult role than JJ Maybank, Reminders of Him will allow him to show even more dimensions onscreen. This is especially true if he is playing Scotty, as the character has a complicated relationship with Kenna that will prove to be very important in her character arc.

While Reminders of Him could help Rudy Pankow continue to prove himself, his presence could also help boost the movie. As the first Colleen Hoover adaptation set to come to theaters after It Ends with Us became a smash hit in 2024, it has big shoes to fill, especially because it so far does not come with the buzzy backstage drama that helped propel the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni-led movie to the top of the charts. Because of this, bringing on a major up-and-coming Netflix star could be a very good move for drawing attention to the project.
